Shall we do a racing competition on a FPV simulator? I can probably provide some prizes. What Simulator would you guys suggest we should use? I think Liftoff and Velocidrone are good choices as both support multiplayer and have relatively better physics than the rest. Let me know! Once we decided on the platform we can then work on the format. Posts: 122 Threads: 6 Likes Received: 77 in 48 posts Likes Given: 93 Joined: Aug 2017 Reputation: 4 Cool idea! I voted liftoff since I don't have velocidrone. That said I am thinking of getting it sooner or later, so I could be motivated to get it sooner. Flying: Talon 6S 6" 2407s 381g no bat, Martian 3, 5" 2205s sooo heavy + gopro session 5 573g AUW, Aurora 5" 2205s 280g no bat, Druckbaer 3" 1404s 172g AUW 3S 550, BQE Megapixel 2.5" 1107s 139g AUW 3S 550, BabyHawk R 2.5" 164g AUW 3S 550 (stock except microeagle, CRSF, 2.5" arms) and maybe 3 more, for now... • Posts: 1,504 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 944 in 654 posts Likes Given: 2,142 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 24 This is a great idea, I only have Velocidrone, and not Liftoff. I am not sure if I should partake though, aside from the fact that I struggle to complete a lap, my crappy laptop and dodgy internet connection will probably cause everyone's connections to lag! Regardless, lots of hours going into Velo over the next month... Oscar, I'll be more than happy to help build a track for you guys. Since there's concerns for lag, maybe we can post videos of our fastest times? • Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 I am in... I'd have to get Velocidrone another try if we're going in that direction. I am pretty much exclusively flying liftoff these days. T, if you design a course with tough elements it'd be a big help for the rest of us to get practice time. These days I can handle courses with vertical elements, small gaps, and excessively tight slaloms but I usually need 10-20 laps practice before I can make it through without crashes... On the other end, if it's something open and fast... then I can bust through it pretty quick. I'd be open to time-trial style competition also. It might cut down on scheduling issues. It might increase the amount of time that I have to dedicate to it though lol. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 1,504 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 944 in 654 posts Likes Given: 2,142 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 24 Sorry, I have to bump this a bit, only 8 folks from the forum have voted!? C'mon guys, (when I say guys, this always includes you gals too) I know Trojan Goat has signed up, so already the competition is looking tough, but I will let you in on a secret... After finally completing a lap of the 'Swiss nationals 2016' track on the 'empty day scene' of velocidrone, I went and had a look on youtube for actual vids from the event. The one I watched would have had the racer lap me 3 times before I even reached the start finish line once!!! Competition for last place is looking tough too Windless fields and smokeless builds • Posts: 328 Threads: 76 Likes Received: 191 in 85 posts Likes Given: 39 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 16 I think we're all on different time zones so it might be hard to sync up and race together. What if we created a track weekly / biweekly and you have 1 week to get the best time for 3 laps. Each pilot can only post 1 video of them flying the course. We can create a point system and award points based on your time, or maybed Oscar can make some sort of point system through this website. If I post this in my racegroup others will join for sure. We can turn this into a series (as long as others can help make the course too, it's easy). Maybe start with a simple figure 8 with elevation changes and make it more complex as we go. Does that sound good? We could define some rules here on how to set up the thread and then Oscar could post it as a sticky. Things like: - Use the Race tag
- Put the name of the simulator and track in the name of the thread like "Liftoff: Straw Bale 1"
- maybe some set of standard rules that can be copied and pasted to explain stuff like posting the video and making sure that the video shows your time at the end.
- Guidelines on how long the race is open for
What do you guys think? If the individual races start to become a bit of a hit then we could start to do tournaments/series from there carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 70 Threads: 10 Likes Received: 15 in 12 posts Likes Given: 4 Joined: Dec 2017 Reputation: 1 02-Jan-2018, 05:56 PM (This post was last modified: 03-Jan-2018, 07:10 PM by Droning Martyn.) .i recently got the drone racing league sim on steam and im sure it has a multiplayer section.
