INAV ESC Problem
#1
Hi all,

I am working on a fixed wing with a Matek f405-WTE flight controller and a hobby wing skywalker esc. When I increase the throttle on my taranis x9d+ I can see the throttle increase in INAV but I get no output from the motor, but when I use the motor test function in INAV the motor works perfectly fine. Also I have enabled motor and servo output and the servos are controlled by the taranis just fine. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks!

Hello, did you solve the problem? I suddenly realized that roll and pitch don't work. Re-flashed to betaflight and everything works fine.

inav will never spin the motors via stick when connected via usb for safety reasons. the only way is to check the box "i understand the risk" and use the slider in the app under motor tab. to test your setup you need to unplug your plane and arm it first before any motors will start to spin. arming can become a issue when bench testing and you don't have a satellite fix. there are some pre-arming checks that inav dev thought it would be safe... there are ways to circumvent these with some cli commands and logical conditions. just take it outside, wait for the satellite fix, arm and test. that should work

I would like to bump this! My problem is I'm an old control-line guy the wrong side of 70. No cure for that I know but this problem is driving me crazy.
6 inch quad with Speedybee F7 V3 stack, TX12mk2. I sorted everything out in Betaflight except the magnetometer. Even with the help of DRL I'm below average at flying the thing. I spend more time fixing....you know what I mean!
Soooo, I thought I'd give inav a go. Great, calibrated acc and mag with EASE. Compass is correct and follows. Now I can use pos and alt hold. Err no. Because my motors won't run.
The same situation as McCarley33.
Motors run on the inav configurator but not the TX.
Inav (7.0.1) preflight all green.
Channels and endpoints set as per Oscar's video.
Arming switch correct.
The only thing I can think of is that for some reason the ESCs are incompatible with inav, even though they will run from the configurator.
On arming after the programmed music, thanks again Oscar,I get two tones and then nothing.(On Multishot). On DShotxxx it's the same but after arming the motors go in to constant beeping.
I've tried all the ways I know of trying to get the ESCs calibrated but nothing works.
Not sure what to try next. I'm drawn to flashing the ESCs with a different protocol but will wait and see if anyone can tell me what I've missed.
Thanks.

StuweFPV, thanks, looks like our posts crossed. I can confirm that my drone motors don't run even when outside, with 13 satellites and all preflight checks are green.

Further research seems to indicate this is a Speedybee problem causing incompatibility.
It was supposed to be "fixed" in inav 7.
I'll see if I can use the inav acc and mag "numbers" in betaflight.

yeah i've heard that there are issues with the Speedybee and that it was supposed to be fixed in v7. but I don't own a SB FC so I can't really coment. good luck with BF! inav does not like a mag and gps running at the same time for navigation. the recommendation is to turn the mag off. might be worth a try.

my respect to you messing with that stuff at your age!! I hope a) I'll reach your age and b) will still be fit enough in my head to sort all that stuff out! bravo!!

For completeness, just to report that it appears that the Speedybee F405v4 is compatible with inav.
I've contacted Speedybee and asked if they can confirm whether the F7v3 ESC board is compatible with the F405v4 FC.
Hopefully it is, and my way out is to buy the F405v4 FC (at a discount!!!!).
I've reloaded betaflight but as their ethos is acro rather than nav there is no chance of alt or pos hold.
PS does anyone on here remember galloping ghost?

Update: Speedybee say that the F7v3 is compatible with inav!
Hmmmmmm! So I've flashed inav and set up. No motors!
Flashed betaflight and all good.
Flashed inav and no motors.
Checked the dump and noticed " set serialrx_provider = SBUS"! Well I'm sure I set it to CRSF and saved both times.
So connected to the configurator, changed serialrx to CRSF and saved. Checked that it had saved on the dump file and now it all works as expected.
This I think is one of the problems with t'internet. Old outdated info. My own fault for believing that inav weren't going to bit bang the motor timing or that speedybee hadn't done anything about making the board inav tolerant.
Right, the sun is shining so I'm going out for some more crashing! Enjoy the rest of the weekend all.

I was about to switch from INAV to Ardupilot since I have SpeedyBee F7 V3.
