In search for a new Camera
#1
Hi folks, I've been using as an fpv camera the fatshark pilot that a friend gave me, but as the times passes the image get worst and its so saturated that i cant even fly the quad  the sky gets white burned and only the grass cant been seen through the goggles. So any good advise for a new fpv camera will be appreciate it.  Smile

I like my Runcam Skyplus, great picture quality and handles a crash well. They've released a few different cameras since I bought mine, so it's worth looking at those first. If you look at other brands make sure you get a CCD camera as these perform better than the CMOS based cameras.
Current quad: ZMR 250 / DYS SE2205 / Littlebee 20A ESCs / Drone Lab 1500 4S / Naze32 Rev5 / BF 2.7.1
FPV: Runcam Skyplus / Aomway 200mw VTX / Fatshark DomV1

Check out the Runcam Swift, it's probably one of the best day time FPV cam out there right now... https://oscarliang.com/runcam-swift-fpv-camera-hs1177/
for night flying, check out the Owl Plus: https://oscarliang.com/runcam-owl-plus-review/

The Foxeer Arrow is a very good camera but the built in voltage OSD is a let down.

Yes, basically it is exactly same camera with some upgrades.

For some people, that OSD will be enough. I just don't like that you need to solder and drill holes for cables if you want to measure voltage for OSD.

Sorry, I meant the OSD is let down because it is constantly flashing in your eyes and I have not yet found a way to make it stay on or stay off, very annoying. Perhaps that can be fixed with a firmware update at some stage.

But I agree with just needing a voltage read out as an OSD.

So you would not recommend runcam eagle, Oscar?
Better get a Swift?

The Eagle is going to be a bit pricey as far as i know it's going to be over $50-$60 ...
It has 45ms delay, although I personally don't think it's a big deal, some people might not like it...

the image quailty is better than the Swift IMO, Colour and Dynamic range is better than anything i have seen (they use something called Global WDR)... it looks better in my goggles than in DVR footage...

if you don't mind the price and latency then I would give it a go Smile

Thanks for your insights, Oscar. $50-60 is heavy...I have quanum v2 pro googles, so 16:9 would be nice. The swift is 4:3 right?
What's about IR filters? Should I go with IR block or IR sensitiv version of the swift?

Yes Eagle is 16:9... and it looks kind of weird as well on 4:3 screen by the way...
Swift is 4:3 so it will look stretched on your goggles...

I would probably go for IR sensitive so you can fly at low light as well even at night...

That isn't bad, you get used to it - so many people are flying with superview on HD cams and it's generally the same "setup". If it bothers anyone on quanums - there is a possibility to switch its screen to 4:3.
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car
