In desperate need of prop guards for BAT QX105

Latest design  Wink :

I've got a test print going now - the details are kinda small, so I doubt it will come out very well, but I thought I'd give it a shot...

EDIT: Nah, the detail was too fine for my nozzle - oh well. I might try it on the work printer to see, but I guess I'll have to earn my plastic nerd badge another time... Big Grin

The design looks good and solid.. I would still like a set just in case that other set is not as good for knocks and bangs indoors.

My motor mounts were supposed to be here today, but they didn't arrive - so I expect them Monday.  Once I've tested the fit and made adjustments (if needed), I'll print them and get them too you (I'll PM you when they are ready).  Here's a photo of the test print that I will use to check with the motor mount.  (Adjustments are easy to make in my design file if the fit Isn't quite right).

The mounts finally arrived, but I didn't have time to get back to the project until this morning.  The fit has been adjusted and a test print was successful!

Note: Screws came with the mounts, and I'm not sure they will be long enough.  This guard will require 1mm additional that the screws need to pass through.  The guard mounts above the CF plate and under the screw tabs on the mount.  So the screw comes up underneath, through the CF plate, through the guard, then into the mount screw tabs.

Anyway molitar, I'll PM you soon with more details.

By the way, final weight is ~1.4 grams per guard. I will be posting these on thingiverse soon.

Awesome I got the set and installed one of them and it works great. Only problem is I need about a 1mm longer screw so question when I measure diameter of the screw to get the M number do I measure inside the threads or outside?

Screw measures 1.4mm on outside of the threads and 4.82mm long.

Outside the threads, but as long as the screws you get are at least that big (but still small enough to fit through the holes of the CF) you should be fine.  The threads will cut into the plastic to make new threads. (Just don't over-do it.) Smile .  I don't know if they make M1.4 screws long enough, but M1.5 or M1.6 will probably work.

Well no luck with Amazon but I did find some M1.5x5mm at Newegg but only standard shipping. Hope to see them in this Friday. If they work I will post detailed pictures with them installed. I'll be than contacting you Sloscotty so thanks for your patience. I thought I had some 1.6Mx6mm that may work as they described as self tapping screws. Definitely were not self tapping at all so there was no way to get them started to try to screw in. That was a waste of time and money but as long as these screws are truely 5mm on the thread I believe the ones coming in should work.

I think you will need 6mm long to make it work.  (And no hurry on my part. I just hope they work out for you.)
