If I rotate the FC on a working quad, do I need to change anything with motors?
#1
I have a quad which is configured and flying but I now want to rotate the FC 90 degrees. I know how to set board orientation in Betaflight, but is that it or do I have to reorder motors in Betaflight, resolder the motor wires or do something else?

Yup, you also need to reorder the motors. No need to resolder them, just use the motor order wizard on the motors tab in betaflight.
Dangerous operations.

If you FC and ESC are two separate boards, and you are not rotating your ESC board then you do NOT need to change motors settings. If it is an AIO or you are also rotating the ESC board then you would need to remap motors.

Thanks guys.

It's an old FC with an external ESC for each motor, so in my case I would assume it's the same as an AIO as ESC signal wires will rotate with the FC so I will reorder motors.

Depending on how old that fc is, if it’s not capable of running betaflight 4.3 or 4.4 (ie an f3 mcu), you won’t be able to use the motor wizard and you’ll have to reorder via resource remapping in the cli. See the reordering motor section in Oscar’s article below:
https://oscarliang.com/betaflight-resource-remapping/

If this is the case, you might find it easier to just extend the esc signal wires to allow them to stay in their current positions (ie: esc 1 still connected to the esc 1 signal pad on the fc). That way all you need to change is the gyro orientation.
Dangerous operations.

The FC is currently running 4.3.2 so I'll go with the "Reorder motors" function in the configurator. However, that link may be a useful as I have two quads running older Betaflight versions so I've bookmarked it, thanks.
