I need help, but I don't even know if you can...
The camera doesn't usually get warm, certainly not the case. Not in my experience anyway. So that could suggest a problem with the camera. I don't remember what camera you got. Which one is it?

You didn't ever connect up the camera incorrectly by mistake did you (i.e. voltage to the camper output pin)?

I think you need to confirm if the camera is actually outputting a video signal first (or not) using Voodoo's guide before you start looking any further.

Hey... im struggling.

I have spent night after night trying to figure out how to bind this thing and I'm getting nowhere. I think ive watched every video on youtube at this point.

I have the FrSky rxsr thay we picked out, but i dont have that option on this transmitter. I dont think i have any buttons on the FrSky thing either and it seems like you have to press a button while the transmitter is looking for something to bind to.

I don't even know how to figure out what channel this thing is on. The VTX is A41.

Im sorry ive got to bug you with this. I know betaflight is supposed to be easy to use, and everyone says its no big deal, but Id be better off doing surgery.

There is a tiny button on the R-XSR labelled an "F/S" button in the manual which is used for the bindong. Hopefully yours is still on the receiver and hasn't fallen off. The following video walks you through the whole binding process using an R-XSR...

Alright. I got it bound. Now i cant get past the firmware. I have MAMBAF722 selected, which i think matches our flight controller.

I think ive loaded the firmware off the internet correctly, then when i try to flash the quad i get 2 errors. 1 is "failed to open serial port" and the 2nd is "no response from bootloader, programming".

It also occasionally says "Detected: COM3 - triggering flash on connect".

Ive downloaded Zadig - that didnt seem to help.

Any ideas?

I promise im selling my hexi-copter carcass so i don't harass you for the rest of your life... :-p

Try manually putting the FC into boot mode by holding down the boot button on the FC while plugging it in and then try flashing it again.
