I need a new FC and VTX for my parts list, And some help!
#1
hello again, in this thread ------> http://intofpv.com/t-about-to-buy-all-th...compatible
i discussed if my quad parts were ready to buy and all that jazz.

i was told i needed a better FC with an integrated OSD and a VTX which can do cloverleaf antennas, i need help figuring out which new ones i can get and are compatible with my current list!

here is the current part list in form of terribly taken screen shots
http://imgur.com/a/pAkil

so for each new part i would prefer to stay $5-10 under the current prices

if its also not too much trouble iam following this guide here as a way to know what goes where---> , i want to know what changes i will have to make/solder/fit/fumble around with to help
accommodate these new parts

iam also wondering about the OSD, how do i get it to work and what exactly is it.
how exactly do i use cloverleaf antennas and how do i set them up, and how much range should i expect from it.

Thanks for reading Big Grin
And thanks for the help iam very new and have no idea what iam doing Big Grin

emh... maybe try to ask one question at a time... and try to make questions more specific.

I personally think these videos "build a drone for $200" are bad advice.. You will end up spending more in the long run to upgrade, if you didn't quit the hobby after 2 weeks after getting fed up with the crap you bought...

We have given you some recommendation over in this thread, please read through it carefully.

If you still have questions please ask, one question per thread Smile that would make our life much easier.

To answer the top 2 questions with some suggestions here is what my thoughts are. They are a little more expensive but they're OK choices.

All I did was search banggood for "VTX" and "F3 Flight Controller" and quickly found both. With some deeper diving you might find better deals!

FC: https://www.banggood.com/Betaflight-F3-A...mds=search

I would recommend one of these:
Betaflight F3
Omnibus F4
DYS F4

I am testing the Kakute F4 and it seems like a great board, but it's not available yet until later in July.

Take a look at the prices on www.myrcmart.com for the Flight Controller - they seem to have quite a few well priced F3 and F4 boards and super cheap F1 boards. I just paid USD11.99 for a SP Racing F3 EVO clone (which is what I also used in my UAVFutures USD99 Build however I am not sure if it was as cheap when I bought it for that) and not much more for the F3 Deluxe for an upcoming build. Both these flight controllers are strong performers for a first build.

My UAVfutures Build thread http://intofpv.com/t-building-uavfutures...acing-quad has a lot of input around the lower priced items used in the build and you can see what the "real world" prices worked out like while I bargain hunted up stuff.

I really like the frame and basic motivators in the UAV futures build as a push to help people move from a RTF to a BYO quad, but the parts list was a lot more about Banggoods cheapest bits than outright awesomeness!

OSD stands for 'On Screen Display' which adds a graphic to your FPV video feed that (most commonly) tells you the voltage of your battery so you don't damage it by over discharging.

Cloverleaf antenna's have different connectors called SMA or RP-SMA, so you need to get the correct connector for your VTX (Video transmitter) and VRX (Video Receiver.) Cloverleaf antenna's produce a 'Circular Polarized' signal, so RH-CP is Right Hand Circular Polarization and LHCP is Left Hand Circular Polarization. If you think of the signal as 'spiraling' out of the VTX antenna the VRX antenna has to be configured to receive the spiral in the correct direction, so you must get both antenna's either LHCP or RHCP. The reason for circular polarization is that the signal reverses the direction it 'spirals' in when it bounces off an obstruction, when a signal bounces like this into a receiver it adds a second distorted image which overlay's the 1st giving the 'ghost' effect we used to see on old TV's. With the reversal of the polarization to the opposite of the antenna, the receipt of the signal becomes significantly weaker and the 'ghost' effect is significantly reduced.

This is just from info I have researched previously, I have minimal experience and as such I welcome anyone to correct any mistakes I might have made here?

Great explanation of circular polarization. Its the first time that concept has quite clicked for me!
