0 How do I a range test with the taranis x9d plus on the bench? I searched for YT videos on the procedure but did not find anything useful, just people flying/walking away from the craft with the tx on their hand to see when they lost RSSI.
I ask because I changed my radio broken antenna. SWR is mostly 0 and sometimes 1.

2 Right next to the bind option in the menu you'll find range mod. When in range test mode the output power is 1/30th of the normal power.
Hit that and Walk away.
When you hear telemetry lost you have exceeded the range.
So the real range is roughly the range you got * 30.

72 You can't do a range check on the bench. You need distance!
If your SWR reading keeps jumping between 0 and 1, you have a problem somewhere. Either the antenna connection, the connection to the antenna pigtail inside or a problem with the RF output stage of your taranis.
If your previous antenna was broken and you had the radio turned on with a broken antenna, there's a good chance that you could damage the output stage of the radio's transmitter.
