While not strictly on topic, my buddy shared a cool idea for workbench lighting.
An LED rope light arched over the work area helps eliminate working in your own shadow. Not sure how it'd do for photos?

You need something to diffuse the light well for photography, but as Oscar's ghetto light box post showed, LEDs work well in that situation.

On my bench, I have a couple of halogen lamps behind the work area so that I can't get in the way of them.
