How's this for a mindjob!?
#1
So, I flashed my 2 (remaining) H8mini (blue) boards with silverware.

Everything seemed fine until I started to get issues binding with one of the boards, probably something to do with landing in our rainwater collection 'tank' (its actually just a plastic bin!) I pulled it out of the water and disconnected the battery straight away dried it off and left it overnight before reconnecting the battery...

Then it refused to bind, leds flashing waiting for a connection but turn off and on the TX and no bind, so I tried a different battery still no luck, de and re soldered the antenna, no luck.

This morning I re-flashed the board again just to see... And ta-da bind successful, I used one of my cheapass batteries during the reflash (blue board requires the board to be powered) but as its a cheapass battery it doesn't last very long, so I put a different battery in and... Oh, no bind, just LED's flashing and no connection... Huh

I have tried all my batteries and it will only bind with the one I powered the board with during the flash, I just re-flashed again using a different battery to power the board, flash successful but still unable to bind using any battery but that specific 1!

WTF!?

I'm not really asking for help as I doubt anyone will have a suggestion that I haven't tried already...

I just thought I would share this random and frustrating issue!

Weird! Happen to have a multimeter? You could test the voltage while the battery is plugged in to see if there's a big difference between the crappy and not crappy battery. Some of those crappy batteries sag a lot and maybe some voltage regulator or something is toast and can't cope with higher voltage?

I don't have a multimeter, a friend has promised me his old one when his upgrade arrives but till then... I borrowed an analogue one to check the voltage of the stock batteries for my E010 vs H8 review but it was ancient so I didn't feel confident in it's (limited) accuracy.

Hmm my analogue multimeter is significantly old than I am ... Like, circa 1960. It's definitely a little off (it's in good company that way) - But you could compare it against a standard fresh AAA or AA battery to check if the voltage is remotely accurate. Or a freshly charged battery as you stated. Mine appears to be close enough.

Yeah, I just borrowed it for the purpose of the review to make sure the stock USB chargers weren't charging to, massively over or under 4.2v. I don't even have that anymore..! I have been too busy to even think about it for the last 2 days... Here we go again, back to work... Going to dig holes for my fence posts!
