Hoping to get some help choosing a first drone
#1
First I want to apologize for creating another one of these post, I would also like to thank any information you can give me to make my decision a little easier.

I am new to the entire FPV scene and after flying some micro quads I am super excited about getting into the FPV flying. So while I don't have a crazy high budget at the moment, I would like to spend around 300 if possible. I know down the road I will probably spend a lot more.

At the moment I am looking at two different options: After watching the 300 budget guide on youtube, the wizard looks like a solid contender and for just about 200 bucks I just need to get some goggles and more batteries and should be good to go? http://www.banggood.com/Eachine-Wizard-X...mds=search

The other idea was building something up, I had a friend of friend recommend something like this: http://www.banggood.com/Realacc-X210-4mm...mds=search Of course that still leaved me getting some items, controller, vtx, camera and some other stuff I am probably not thinking of.

For someone starting off would I just be better of going with the wizard? I have watched the build guides online and I am pretty handy with a soldering iron so I am not really too concerned about that, more having everything come together and work properly.

So if possible I would really appreciate any feedback. It seems the more research I do the more confused I get on what to purchase.
Also how bad is the shipping time/turnaround from banggoods?

Thanks!

wizard is decent starting point, of course you can cherry pick from all bg and build your own... but for that there will be time Smile
as for the shipping time my best was... 24h from order till delivery (to Poland) but that was costing like 12 $ or so... normal "free" or semi free shipping takes around 2 -3 weeks to get to you ... so either be patient... or get expedited shipment.
All the best

Thank you for the reply. I think I am going to end up getting the wizard and the fpv googles that were recommended in UAVFutures budget fpv set up.

As I definitely know I will be crashing this, would it be worthwhile to order some extra parts? I know the props are probably pretty much disposable parts, but would it be worthwhile looking at getting an extra frame or its rare to break that?

For now I think I will continue to use the sims and my ps4 controller to get some flight time while I wait.

Welcome to the forum man, luckily Grisha/Greg doesn't talk Bollucks!

I don't have a proper quad (I was also looking at the wizard for my 1st brushless rig) so all my advice is purely from research and not from experience.

Ok, from actual experience of flying my H8 mini - Get spare props and lots and lots of them! I busted all my spare props within a 2 weeks of receiving the quad. Re. shipping - I am in South Africa so it takes ages for anything to be delivered to me, I ordered My H8 and eachine E010 at the same time, (mid Oct) the H8's were delivered on 2nd Dec, the E010's which were Christmas gifts, didn't arrive till 27th Dec! I am going to expedite delivery of my replacement props cos I'm impatient!

From the sounds of things the 4mm carbon fiber 'arms' of the frame should be pretty durable, I did look but cant seem to find the bottom 'X' plate as a spare...

Prudence dictates - 2 spare motor's and 4x motor mounts, spare VTX antenna and maybe a few spare batteries? Most people seem to suggest going straight for a 4s battery (as long as the electronics can take it, doesn't look like there will be a problem for any components of the Wizard running 4s) you can still fly slow on 4s..!

Just my 2 cents

Excellent, thank you for the response. I think I am going to definitely elect to go with the expedited shipping on the order, I get terribly impatient especially when I am excited about something.

As for the 4S battery that's what I was planning on buying, although from what I have read they are something like twice as fast as the 3s batts? You can adjust for this though in the programming right? To make sure your not getting to much power while getting used to flying it?

you can get flatter props... ie 5030 king kongs... with 4s you will have power and ability to scale up in the future (tri blades or other magic stuff)

For me half of the fun (and problemsSmile ) is building the quad. You will need to fix it and with a RTF it would be bit harder for you to diagnose it if you didn't go through the building part.
If you happen to change your mind, I'd say you shouldn't choose such a tight frame for your first build - it is really tricky to fit everything inside this one and you need some experience to do it right.
With fast shipping from China, you should expect that you will have to pay duty fee. I haven't paid it even once with free shipping (sellers declare the value as a fraction of original price).

Thanks for the input! I ended up ordering the wizard, although I am already planning on my next quad which I will build.

One thing I was wondering is when you hook up to the computer with a usb to micro usb cable do you need to use a special cable? Or can I use the cables I used to charge my android devices?

Yes, you should be able to use your cables (unless they are all marked "charge only").  I've never grabbed a cable of mine that didn't work.

Well unfortunately it looks like its going to be a while before I get my Wizard, was supposed to be back in stock the 6th now Banggood shows it as being available in 10-15 days. Is there any thing similar you guys would recommend if I were to cancel the order?
