HOOT 3D VR camera, 3D handy.
Hello everyone,
For a little change of RC material testing, I propose today a ride of a sports camera a bit special: the HOOT 3D VR camera. 
A simply brilliant camera that finally add a third dimension to your movies. 
Enter the era of 3D imaging with the small sport compact camera and awfully good.
Note that to use full power rendering images, you need a device that can play videos or pictures "side by side". A smartphone in a cardboard with the ad hoc program, virtual reality goggles or screen with 3D rendering glasses will do the trick!

As each review, we pass by unpacking phase of the product. 
Packaged in its traditional trash bag, there is no reflected a great camera inside.

Pulling up as it should, we see that it is packaged as standard in the foam sheet that is now used to meet.
 
We peel the fruit, to find an extra plastic bag that covers the box. 
Some stickers were supplied us with chic at the upcoming events there will be bonding everywhere: p
 
We discover a rectangular box that leaves no doubt about what is contained inside.

Upon opening the box we find the manual directly to Read This First!

Under the manual are hidden: the camera properly packed in a small soft pouch, USB cable and charging adapter to attach your camera type supports GoPro.
 
Overview
The camera front view against diving, on top of a button, which will be surrounded by a halo of light filling the state of operation, switches on the camera and start / stop recording. 
Before, the double objective to film to 3D protected by glass (on which a protective plastic to be removed before use). 
The camera is coated with a very thin layer of rubberized plastic to the touch velvet. 
It is available in white or black.

At the back we find the USB port to be used for charging and download movies and pictures present in the internal memory. 
The USB port is protected by a rubber cap, which is plugged into the hole to be sealed.
 

Lying on the back, as a turtle, is discovered the screw that will secure it in different media or use the supplied adapter. 
The thread is standard accessories pictures 1/4. 
We also find a rubber circle that will prevent slipping on some accessories.

Filled at 93 x 77 x 46mm in its data sheet, see if it's real? 
We measured + -92.6mm x 73.9mm x 45.2mm is slightly smaller than the information .. we will not complain: p
 

The inter-camera distance for 3D rendering is measured 42mm

Weight:
Weight is 171g given in the datasheet .. is respected and adequate especially since everything is integrated.

Getting Started with the camera:
Is pressed for 1 second only this button on the camera (above) and it starts. The button illuminates when a pulsed light halo red for about 9 seconds before going solid green to say that the camera is ready for use. A new support, in short this time, the button triggers 3D video recording, the button is then surrounded by a pulsed green halo. Another short press on the button stops recording and the halo of light returns to the solid green. While a long press (2 seconds) on the button will cause the setting to a complete stop of the camera.


 



Using the app android:
To give you an idea of what is and means to settle with the android application that you can download for free via Playstore (look for "HOOT CAMERA INTERNATIONAL"), here are some screenshots that speak for themselves ... 
When you start the camera, wifi this one starts at the same time .. not disable it (note to know) ... there simply to pair your smartphone and go (the pairing code 66666666).

The default video mode that gives us the choice to film in 2D or 3D or Photo mode that allows photos in 2D and 3D.

By default the line "Time Watermark" is checked that on-printed on the top left of the date and time in the image of the video.

In playback mode memory, the halo around the camera button turns blue.
 
Wifi:
The task is not easy as the lab environment is disturbed by a ton of noise wifi signals but it seems that the camera opens its WiFi channel 6.

Quality waterproof:
As we know, waterproof in China is not waterproof especially in Europe. 
The camera is announced IP67 which means the camera is protected from dust and is capable of undergoing an immersion in water level of water included in 15cm and 1m depth for 30 minutes. 
Is it true?

Hey ben unfortunately NO! 
Yes it is protected from dust but far from watertight ... a turn in the slide, dipping 2 seconds in water (pool depth was 80cm and I was holding the camera in the highest possible hand) is still made back from the water behind the tile.
 
Fortunately, being on vacation in a beautiful warm, sunny place, I set the camera to dry in the sun ... 
After a few tens of minutes placed in every sense infiltrated water eventually disappeared, but a rubber grip present on the side was off with the heat ...

Video
3D:

To give you an idea on the files and record quality, here are two screenshots of video files property "side by side" (3D) products. 
Allow about 2Mb the second recording; or about 120MB per minute. 
A video file is not especially continuous, it is cut every 15 minutes.


2D:
it is breaking even but there is only one image in full HD 30fps, the full HD screen is not shared by the images generated by the two cameras.

Conclusion
If you want to add depth (really) to your photos and videos, if you wish to discuss 3D imaging gently, this camera is for you! 
We forget that it is waterproof and instead announced it will replace this term with "life proof" more suitable (dust-resistant and splash of everyday life). 
The fact that everything is integrated is convenient because you do not risk forgetting all but burdened. 
The internal memory of 64GB me a little scared at first but you soon realize that this is more than enough to make many shots. 
The image rendering is impeccable and we never tired of imagining owls little scenarios to reproduce in 3D
A small camera that finally comes out a little off the beaten track and still plot of traditional sports cameras. 
Personally I enjoy and look forward to find a way to do a live in 3D on social media.

Interesting. It's a bit big for our miniquads But i guess can't say much for that price (around 118$ from what i seen).

Thx mate, it's better to put it on your old phantom 1 but products seems good and innovative for a correct price.
