HGLCR Aeolus motor threads stripped

Are yours?  Or are they blind holes ?

The holes are not blind, but if I try to screw all the way down, the screw stops at a certain point, as if there was a smaller diameter hole at the end of the bell which prevents the screwing from going further.

I think I would take one of the screws up to your hardware store and see if they have a tap in that size. Then thread all the holes through.

After taking the bells off, so you don't get metal chips in the motor.

Are you using the same screws that came with the motors? I am wondering if they are the correct pitch?

As Scott suggested, you can take the bells off and run a TAP through it to clean the threads.

Yes, I've always been using the same screws. They still screw perfectly through the entire hole, the only problem is that the first threads are stripped. Probably this happened after a overtightening them, in conjuction with a crash (in fact, the "critical" motor is the one on which was mounted the prop that completely bended after a previous crash).

Not enough height on m3 threads and with slight pressure can cross-thread aluminium.

If you can run a TAP through the threaded hole and add a dap of permanent loctite it may hold.

On larger work pieces I would simply drill and tap for the next size up.

I've 3D printed the spacer (0.8 mm of thickness) and it seems to work well with the M2×8 mm screws.

Overtightening is less likely to happen, since the screws almost touch the end of the hole. Let's hope that the threads won't strip anymore!
