Why hexacopter FPV racers aren't popular? I thought they should be faster than quadcopters?
Hexacopter for FPV? |
20-Feb-2017, 09:58 AM Why hexacopter FPV racers aren't popular? I thought they should be faster than quadcopters? 20-Feb-2017, 10:01 AM Probably because more motors = bigger battery = heavier copter. Also there are more props/motor/ESC to break in a crash. The capabilities of todays batteries are already maxed out with quads, they wouldn't be able to supply the same current for 2 more motors. They would be also less agile because of the added weight. Probably someone could experiment with smaller motors, 4" props, but i don't think it would beat a proper quad. 20-Feb-2017, 10:53 PM Another thought, at least for freestyle, the 2 motors in the middle aren't that much use... Also yeah, the build gets more complicated. And larger. |
