Help with fpv plane choice
#1
Question
I'm looking for something rc fpv to fly...
I already looked into quads, but they are a bit expensive and fly for a short time, so I decided to look for wings/plane. Rolleyes
I'm looking for something like the HEE WING T1 Ranger that comes with everything or almost everything.
I have a budget of 200/220€ and the FPV transmitter and receiver must be included in that budget.
As a transmitter I was indicated the "Jumper T"... Thinking
Do you know of any wing/plane that meets these characteristics?
If you can find something resistant to falls and with the possibility of improvements, that would be ideal...

I've been browsing around for good options myself. Been thinking a plug 'n play would be nice since it'll already have proper servos, ESC, and motor for the unit, and I can toss in a receiver and FPV components that are to my liking.

As for starter planes, I've learned that there are typically two things that will help you achieve lower minimum speeds. (good for beginners with planes) Wings that are swept forward seem to be more resistant to stalls, and twin tractor designs will give you airflow over the wings even if you're barely moving. The Ranger has that twin tractor setup, so I'd say it's probably a good choice. Of course, I'm just going off of research so I can get into it myself, so hopefully somebody who has experience of their own will toss in their two cents.

Do you have experience with flying wings before? The Heewing t1 is quite fragile and it's not the cheapest wing.
Consider something like the S800 which is durable and affordable, but you do need to purchase the motor and ESC yourself and you have to put it together. But this is the model I'd recommend to beginners.
Another option is the ZOHD Darkbreeze, pretty easy to fly too, and it comes pre-built with everything (except receiver and FPV setup).
The Jumper T-Lite is a good budget radio, I still use it when I am travelling. Get the V2 with internal ExpressLRS module and you are set.

Here's my build log of the darkbreeze: https://oscarliang.com/zohd-drift-dark-breeze/
Here's the S800: https://oscarliang.com/reptile-s800-v2-f...build-log/

I've never flown anything other than something like a "parrot mambo".
ZOHD Darkbreeze looks pretty decent...
I think I'll start with quads and later try wings/airplanes... Thinking
Thank you for your help! Big Grin

Hi,

Your budget is quite limited however, there are cheap and good wings that you can afford.

Hereby a link where you can buy a complete wing (except the electronic) very cheap:

https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/330420243...pt=glo2bra

It flies very well, it is light and until certain point crash resistant.

You migth need as electronics:

A pair of 9g servos: https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/100500399...pt=glo2bra

Brushless Motor like 2207:  https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/100500524...pt=glo2bra

30A esc:  https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/329638794...pt=glo2bra

5030 propeller:  https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/100500467...WTfatoUr2R

Cam+VTX:  https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/400010604...pt=glo2bra

Battery like 3S 2200mhA:  https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/100500383...04616028_3

BEC to supply power to the servos and VTX+Cam:  https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/400005162...pt=glo2bra

The receiver depends on the transmitter, so if you already have a tx ERLS based you can find cheap pwm receivers that are able to control the two servos and the motor. https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/100500571...05575413_1

If you wanna get a more advanced version you should then add a Fligth Controller. Lefei Sparrow 3 is a nice choice: https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/100500447...pt=glo2bra

Check out this wing maiden:

I started with drones but migrated to wings and it is now my preferred ones.

A few weeks ago i got this new little toy which truly amazed me! the new AtomRC Penguin! it's a dual tractor which is always better than a pusher or a wing and it comes as RTH version meaning you get the FC included with inav already on it. all for 199$! however you do need a RX and the video gear. it's a amazing plane to fly and loads 4s 21700 Li-Ion no problem. I can highly recommend it. you're done "building" in one evening!

I've heard nothing but good stuff about the penguin. How does it do for low speed flight? I have a Dolphin and it's a great plane even after cutting my teeth on it by exploding the nose off 4 times, but the sucker is so fast that I need a huge field to do anything but constantly turn.

i never flew the Penguin lighter than with a 4s 21700 - 4Ah. comes out around 1kg. if you would use a much smaller battery then you could go much slower. mine stalls at around 38km/h. however for that small size it flies incredibly well and efficient. i use the stock motors and they do produce a crazy rate of climb. it a fantastic overall plane witch is small and deatachable for transport. the best i've seen so far on the RTF market.
only down side i can report is the lack of a rudder and a proper vertical stab. the two fins never work great. i might 3DP my own with a rudder. so i suffer a bit from tail wagging. i use lots of differential thrust which helps a bit - but never as good as a proper rudder.
if you want to go super slow i've just seen a vid from a guy nearly hovering that plane:
