Help me narrow down FC choice?
#1
Fairly n00b here.

I've probably only got about an hour of flight time, all of which is on a 250 FPV style quad (Arris FPV250) with a CC3D running CopterControl.  After a pretty wicked crash (pilot error of course), whichever sensor monitors and controls yaw (accelerometer or gyroscope?) seems to have checked out.  The craft yaws (usually left) both in flight and on the bench.  I've reset TX, FC, even flashed CF - all with no change.

So, that leaves me thinking that I probably need to shop for a new FC.  I've been pretty happy with the CC3D, and I actually love to tinker, flash, upgrade, etc (I'm a long time IT guy by trade) so I'm not scared to have something brand new.

That said, I'd love to have OSD and PCB built in, but because I only have a FlySky T6 and R6 rx, so I also must have PWM (I guess unless I get a PPM encoder?).

So I'd like your input on what you'd recommend for me. (Oh, I'd really like to stay at or under the $50 price tag).

Naze32 Full?
Emax Skyline32?
BeeRotor?
Xracer F303?
Others?

Thanks!!!

If you want OSD and PDB built-in, then you maybe want to wait for the Beeflight FC to come out Smile I recently tested their prototype board and really like it, makes building/configuring a lot easier.

Unfortunately most of the good FC on the market (especially the one with integration features) only support SBUS and PPM due to the lack of space. Maybe consider a PWM to PPM converter, or even a radio upgrade...

If you only want to consider the FC in the list, I would probably opt for the XRacer as it's the only board in the list I tried and enjoyed.

Def not only the list. Actually I'd be most interested in getting back in the air as soon as possible. Can even do without the osd and PCB if I had to. Current PCB is a maitek and its junk. 5V for LED seems to put out 2.7-5.5v as it sees fit.

The quad is 'almost' fly able, but the constant yaw issue adds a layer of complexity that a new pilot (like me) has a pretty hard time dealing with.

Anybody have an experience with a PPM encoder? I don't have the cash to upgrade to the Taranis, but it's next on the list!

PWM to PPM converter can be quite bulky, google you should find them here is an example:

You can even build one yourself if you are nerdy enough LOL

if you are to add encoder.... get a new RX
http://www.banggood.com/Flysky-2_4G-6CH-...mds=search <- im flying on those for past 2 years... good quite cheap... only downside ... they are large...

if you are into new stuff:
http://www.banggood.com/Flysky-FS-A8S-2_...mds=search <- im awaiting for shipment of those, as soon as i have them ill provide my felings on this rx (ppm/sbus VERY small)

also it depends what you want to achieve...
getting full naze if you will go for racing/acro makes no sense... (baro, mag)

if you are to have fun in the air (rate/acro) and want to get back asap, i'd go for now with F303 or if you are into the kinky new stuff start looking for some F4 board like soul or revo
All the best

Curently flyable: Nox 5, Minimalist 112
Bench / in progres: fixing Nox 3,  Scrap
thinking about building: 450

Just want to follow up with this video of the yaw problem. This is sitting on table, and about 1/2 way through when I pick up the quad and it turns a little left and right, I was actually moving it over 90 degrees left and right. Would you agree that there's something wrong with the sensors?

That FlySky mini receiver, do you know if it would pair with my FlySky T6?  It looks like only the i6 transmitters are listed in the details on the BG site.

Anybody had any luck with the Arris resold stuff?  I'm pretty sure all of their stuff is just rebranded.  The "Arris" ESCs I got are Flycolors, the "Arris" motors are another brand I can't remember off hand.

I did just come across this.   https://www.amazon.com/HS1177-Flight-Con...rds=f3+pdb  And can't tell which brand it actually is.

Actually it looks to be an SP Racing F3 Evo.  Can that be real for $40? The F3 Evo plus a PDB?  Hmmm..... :/

Yeah, Arris is rebranding stuff, sometimes adding something from them to the hardware. Ie. Motors come with a low profile alu nut instead of stainless steel standard one etc.

That board is probably a rebranded clone.
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car
