Hi all, intro is a great idea so goes:
My name is Jordan. I live in Southern California, although I was born in Bulgaria and moved to the US about 15 years ago.
I am a software engineer and overall a computer nerd. I studied electrical engineering, following my dad who besides an EE was also a radio-hobbyist, so I learned to solder and read schematics around middle-school
I got into quadcopters and FPV about a year ago, stumbling on a guide one night browsing reddit (this one). I spent the next week researching, reading and watching videos. I slipped to my wife the legal technicality of needing a HAM license and she vetoed my planned budget if "I was breaking the law". A week later I called her bluff and obtained my technician class HAM license (KK6VYN)
Between family and work, I generally have more time to build (late at night) than to fly. Oscar's blog has been an instrumental source of knowledge and ideas since my first builds (thanks Oscar!) I have put together 10+ quads and all are in perfect flying order, tho I generally only fly the trailing 2-3 with the latest and greatest components I like casual racing on weekends with friends or freestyle at a park by myself, when I can find the time.
I love the community behind this hobby, your helpfulness and support makes this the best hobby in the world. Glad to meet you!
