Hello
#1
Hi -

I wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Ed and I am an electrical engineer.  I have been interested in drones for a while and recently started purchasing parts to build one.  So far I have the frame (Globalstore® F330) and I am still working out what motors to buy, thinking that is the next critical step.

I purchased a Hubsan X4 H107C as a trainer, and I can see myself getting addicted to this very quickly.

I am sure I will have a ton of questions for everyone and I look forward to getting to know other people on this forum.

Ed

Welcome to the forum Ed! My first quad was a 450 Flame Wheel (looks just like the picture I googled of the F330). Anxious to see your progress. Smile

Have you tried starting a "help" thread in Begginers Questions section? You might have better luck starting there. Sorry I'm not more help than that lol

Thank you for all of the welcome messages. I look forward to interacting more and learning the basics.

I did learn this weekend that the wind can really take my H107C for quite the ride. Luckily no damage, only a missing prop.

with the wind it is funny, when i started even slightest breeze was a "no flight condition" ... at the moment im more like "ther is a glimpse of sun and it is not raining... lets fly!"

and yeah... sometimes it is funny to see your quad in "speed" position almost not moving...
All the best

Totally yes! I used to get pissed because the wind picked up once the batteries were charged, while I was learning. Now I go out to challenge myself. An H8 mini is awesome in the wind btw. (Slow crawl up wind, then wow as it zips by trying to see the tiny thing LOS!) lol

I'll have to practice more outside to get used to the wind.

The reason I bought the H107C is because it is small an I figured it would be easy to practice in the house with no wind. The problem is it drifts so much. Even when I mess with the trim. I wonder if I need to go through and balance the props. I need to get a prop balancer to do that though.

My house is pretty drafty and will do that to my H8mini too. Or if the heater is running. Flying up and down the stairs was a bit of a challenge when i started. Never realised how much air is moving in my house lol.

I hadn't thought of the stairs, that's a good challenge. I am going to try that tonight.
