Heat issues with OSD and VTx
#1
Is it normal that my minimOSD (micro version) and my VTx (aomway 200mW) producing much heat?

I have seen builds with heat sinks on top of the aomway VTx, is this necessary? Are there other ways to reduce heat?

The voltage of the OSD is slightly above 5V (5.12V), should i improve the voltage source?

Thanks for your help

Yea the micro minimosd does get quite warm.. VTX can also get warm... Just make sure you use an antenna and the antenna is the correct connector

Don't power on for too long on the ground.. You are fine with decent air flow when flying

Oscar, you seem to be very knowledgeable. On one of my builds I'm setting up an OSD stacked on an naze32. Flashed with base flight. Flash the OSD no problem . I set all the fonts and everything on the GUI no problems. When I plug in the stack and then plug in the micro USB to the OSD GUI, it just says reading, I don't have a cam yet still waiting so I can try it that way. I also have a micro OSD that I flashed and it works fine but I haven't tried them yet with Cam and transmitter. I should be getting my cam and transmitter in a day or two is the OSD supposed to read with gui on the stack? I'm not real sure on how to wire it I keep seeing different things online.

What do you mean "read with gui on the stack"?

You connect Minimosd and FC TX to RX, RX to TX.. Connect GND as well

Lol different person.. I think it would be a good idea if its on a RC car haha... With the airflow on a quad copter, you should not have any problems.. Unless you leave the quad powered on the ground for extended length of time

And if its getting hot in the air, you need more uptilt on the cam Smile

You could get a small and light aluminum heatsink and attach it to the VTX, if you really wan't to.
