Greetings from Spokane, WA

Hello,

Have been an RC plane enthusiast for the past couple years, I began exploring multi rotors over the last 12 months, due to a lack of decent flying fields in my area.

Over a year ago, start reading up, and bought the components to put together a ZMR250. Now I am finally putting it together, and already, I am finding that the Naze32 board is practically obsolete......

So, I am trying to make it work anyways, and saturating my brain with information pulled from the internet.

I have my quad all built up, but now I am at a standstill, as I have some major tuning issues.

So, there it is. I could have just bought an already-made multi-rotor, but I love building and working on this stuff, so I am diligently trying to learn and "do."

Welcome from a fellow forum and quadcopter noob. The rate of advancement in multirotors is amazing. F1 boards are being phased out by betaflight soon and BF3.2 brought dynamic filters to the table, which seems to be a game changer that will require even more from our FCs.
Flying: Talon 6S 6" 2407s 381g no bat, Martian 3, 5" 2205s sooo heavy + gopro session 5 573g AUW, Aurora 5" 2205s 280g no bat, Druckbaer 3" 1404s 172g AUW 3S 550, BQE Megapixel 2.5" 1107s 139g AUW 3S 550, BabyHawk R 2.5" 164g AUW 3S 550 (stock except microeagle, CRSF, 2.5" arms) and maybe 3 more, for now...

So, is Cleanflight and Betaflight the same thing? I started with Baseflight, then was told that Cleanflight was the way to go. Now I keep seeing reference to Betaflight.

Betaflight is a fork of Cleanflight designed by developer Boris B, so they are quite similar - in fact, the configurators are just about identical. One of the big differences is that CF is a more thoroughly tested code, whereas BF is more cutting edge (hence BETA) so the newer releases may have some unfixed bugs. What might be of interest to you is the fact that Betaflight filters are so much more advanced that most typical builds will fly perfectly with default settings.

Just use Betaflight buddy.
Betaflight was based on Cleanflight, but now it's the other way round, Cleanflight is making changes based on Betaflight.

Hey Scott welcome to the forum

Another fixed winger coming over to the dark side, nice!

As for FCs... with the afforadability of them these days it may make sense to swap it out for something else. You can get cheap F3/F4 boards for 15 bucks or so. I also agree with the group, might as well go with Betaflight. I've never flown anything else so I can't compare it, but it's also good enough that I haven't bothered with anything else on my quads yet. The 3.2 version looks appealing but I am more of a general release only kind of guy so I'll be waiting for 3.2 to bake a little more before upgrading.

Thanks much, fellas.

I am going to take the advice and get a new board, and start using betaflight.
