Why are you getting firmware from OpenTX for X4R-SB?

https://www.frsky-rc.com/x4rsb/

If you were doing this with your XM+, maybe that is why you couldn't get it to work.

Here is the firmware for XM+

It also bears pointing out that all receivers come with the correct firmware already flashed to them.

Unless you have a very good reason to flash a receiver (like encountering a known bug), then you should leave well alone. The same applies to ESCs.

Yes!

I've never flashed a receiver, FrSky or otherwise. Just wire it up, bind and go!

In fact, what I normally do is just connect power to the receiver from my bench supply and get it bound before I even install it. Most of the time, things like bind buttons tend to become hard to get at once the receiver is installed in the quad, so binding the radio and receiver ahead of the build lets me check that the receiver is working before I commit to installing it.

OK...  well then something else is WRONG !!!  i just took a fresh receiver same one X4R-SB  and tried to bind it ..  nothing....while trying to bind the red and green light stay on steady !!!!  no flashing.... if i plug the lipo in without holding the FS button red flashes ????????  can i bind by plugging into the smart port on the bottom of the TX ????

Binding is between the radio parts of the radio and the receiver.

If you turn off the radio and connect power to the receiver while holding down the button on the receiver, the green LED should be on and the red LED should flash. Does it do that?

It is the same for all of the FrSky RX I have ever used, regardless of model.

Turn on radio, create or select model, put that model in to [BND].

On the RX, hold the BIND button down and, with a 5vdc supply, power the RX.  Multiple RX having the same issue is just not likely, so either OE or something is wrong in the radio.

OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun!  Addicted :)

No it does not when I hold the FS button and power up both lights green and red are steady

Bizarre. I can't find anything in the documentation that defines both LEDs being on steady as valid.

Something is wrong here. This is a genuine FrSky receiver? Do you have anything else connected at the time? What are you powering the receiver with?

Hi
I use the xr4 sb receiver and had terrible problems getting it to bind to my tarranis tx. I eventually sussed it as it needed the euro LBT firmware flash .

I was using the plain euro firmware and it just wouldnt bind but the Euro LBT worked right away.

New to this but it might help if you are having binding problems with euro tranmitter and your receiver.

Your problem is very similar to the one i sorted

above is link then open firmware section

You want the second download LBT,

I used my transmitter to flash the receiver

Make sure your transmitter has the euro firmware too, flashing TX and Rx is easy as long as you follow instuctions and make sure transmitter battery has plenty of power before you start
