Getting some new motors for a new mini quad build, advise please?
#1
I have been looking around for some new motors for my next build, but there are so many of them it's a headache.
I really like the look of the Lumenier 2205 2400KV, pretty expensive are they worth it?

Honestly for the money I think there are a lot better motors out there. The Hyperlite or MultitcopterBuilder 2206 motors are what I would recommend if you need to buy right now. Pretty decently light and loads of power, good torque. If you want to go ultra-light, check out the Storm Spear 2205 2350kv. Super light and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, though pretty expensive. Still if it was me buying motors I'd go with the ZMX Fusion X25. Good price, amazing performance, though 31g isn't super light it's also not bad for the power. Only problem at this point is availability, as more stock won't be available till a few weeks later.

So you'd do the StormSpears over the T-motor Airgear for a super light build?

Yes, I think so, weight isn't that different, current draw is about the same, and it gets about 80+g more thrust per motor, while being a good deal more responsive. The T-Motor still has a place I think, depending on what you're looking for, but I think the storm motor is a bit better. 22g vs 24g

For best performance for the weight though I'd really probably go high KV if I was trying to build the lightest build possible. I just finished a build with the RCX SE2205 2700kv, and an ultra light frame. Flying weight with battery is 458g, and it's nuts.

You could get 3 and a half rcx motors for the price of one lumenier... Wink

Every now and then i check miniquadtestbench, his reviews were the reason i'll be trying the new 2206 2400kV on my next build. And the price when buying without warranty/support... Wink
