Frysky X8R and Smartport
#1
I am using:

Raceflight One
Skitzo FC (revolt)
Lumenier cam and vtx, No unify at this time

I am not interested in being able to manipulate the vtx, I am trying to use lua scripts to adjust pids on my taranis.

The x8r has a smartport output, and I connected it with one connection like the x4r in this article ( https://oscarliang.com/pid-vtx-settings-...aceflight/ ) ,
but it does not work. To be clear I connected the smartport output (one pin) to the appropriate place on the FC. I did not connect the positive and negative plugs located right next to it.

I am guessing the x8r may need power to the connections on that side but I cannot find any information to help. If if needs power, what is the voltage tolerance?
I may be way off base. I would appreciate any help.

Justin

If you have also connected through SBUS or PPM and you are running the red and black wire with them, then it should power up.
But the easiest check is to see if you see any leds on the X8R.

I am wired for sbus. The smartport is on the other side and has three inputs. (smartport positive and negative) I dont know what the voltage in would be if it needs to be plugged in.
I have included the manual for the x8r.

Yes. The quad flies just fine. It needs PID tuning and I am trying to be able to tune it from the Taranis without have to stop and hook it into the laptop. I took one wire from the smartport pinout and soldered it to my revolt on the input according to the article. I went into raceflight and turned on the appropriate settings. Then I copied the lua scripts to the proper folder on the SD card for the taranis. The script runs on the Taranis. it says no VTX connected (which is true I am not using the TBS unify or any osd) and it says no RX. Thanks for your help. I am not sure I am still a beginner. But I definitely still need help.
