Frsky M9 Gimbal Upgrade for Taranis
#1
FrSky M9 High Sensitivity Hall Sensor Gimbal For Taranis X9D Plus, Frsky wants us to fly Smoother Smile

The new gimbals feature real hall sensor gimbals instead of the regular pot gimbals, these also include quad bearings for extra smoothness and accuracy.

Ability to enable/disable self centering, adjustable tension, and a promise for quality materials!

Edit: Full review: https://oscarliang.com/frsky-m9-hall-gim...s-upgrade/

Initial Review written by Artur Banach:

Some feedback on new FrSky M9 Hall Sensor gimbals. They come spring tensioned. One screw needs to be adjusted to remove the spring tension for throttle stick.

Gimbal connects to radio with 3 plugs of a different sizes and cable lengths. It is impossible to mismatch the plugs because wire lengths would only allow to put he plug into corresponding socket.

Gimbals feel different indeed. Build quality is better than the stock gimbals that comes with Taranis. Stick movement is more refined and overall it feels more premium.

When looking closely I noticed a tiny gaps between the gimbal elements when sticks are not centred, so there is a possibility that dust might get inside the radio case easier.

The good thing about this gimbal is that it should last longer because there is not brushes inside that touch the surface of sensor to get the measurement of stick position.

Overall a much awaited upgrade from FrSky. A must-have to make your Taranis even better since Aurora 9 gimbals are NEVER in stock

I've heard that they will also make these for the new Taranis Q X7. When they come out hopefully I will be able to get them and maybe even review them on here!

What if someone has already installed Aurora 9x gimbals? New case required, or they are of same size?

as far as i know, the Aurora gimbal doesn't fit the Taranis, and required to move everything to the Taranis gimbal housing right? I don't think there is any modification to the Taranis case?

The M9 gimbals fits perfect in the Taranis, no modification is required.

Anyone have a clue if they will fit a Turnigy 9xr? Dropped my tx on concrete in the past and badly need to replace the gimbals.

Potentially yes, since the current Taranis gimbals can be installed in the 9xr with some mods but someone will have to try it to be sure Smile
