Frsky FPort - new RX/Telemetry Protocol
#1
FPort is a new RC protocol that combines RC control information (your RX protocol), telemetry (including MSP tunneling), and RSSI are in one connection...

That means if you are using SBUS + SmartPort now, you will be able to do both using just one wire, and it's uninverted too.

Not sure about latency though at this stage, but sounds very interesting and simplified wiring is always a good thing.

This looks very cool! Thanks for sharing this out. I'll be keeping a keen eye on these developments Smile

Are you going to try/test this new protocol Oscar?

not yet as there isn't any words of Frsky releasing the RX firmware... at the moment it looks like it's only being tested internally...

It would be amazing to be able to do this for my qx90 or cloned tiny whoop.

I am going to try it on my next build, it should work with a BFF4 shouldn't it?

I wired up my new build with F.Port. I can said everything is working fine in configurator. I have all my controls and telemetry.

FC: CL Racing F4S with betaflight nightly build #406
RX: XSR with the FPORT firmware.

I have not finish the built, so I can't report actual flight.

I sent an email to FrSky this week about the R-XSR compatibility, which I believe uses a different processor and received this response:

Quote:Yes, after X4RSB and XSR.
Thanks for your continous support!

Looks like they're planning to add support for more than just the current published list of receivers

I can say my first flight went well with F. PORT. No issue with controls and all my telemetry works. I am pretty sure any future RX will be able to use this protocol.

Holy crap, I want this so bad... Wonder when the R-XSR will be added! Just got mine in today and it would save me some wiring! Thanks for the info Oscar!
