FPV'er in Australia
#1
Hi all,

Got into the RC hobby at 13 (I'm 24 now) when I built a kit RC car, after a few years and replacement parts I migrated from ground to air with my first little 4ch helicopter. I have played with several toy grade quads over the last few years and had a great amount of fun flying around the living room. In December 2016 I bought the (then) new Mavic Pro from DJI, I loved that it had a camera on it and I got a different view of the world, this is when my general interest developed into a hobby.

I started watching FPV pilots on Youtube and wanted to be able to fly like them, the Mavic although great for photography and video work just didn't cut it for me on the fun factor. So I started looking for a good way to get into the FPV hobby, and decided to build a Tiny Whoop from an E010, TX01 and the VR007 googles... I think I flew it for 1 night before ordering a Taranis X7, and all the parts I would need to build a faster and more powerful Whoop style indoor racer.

A few weeks of racing around the house and I decided it was time to graduate to something a little larger... Thanks to videos from 'UAVFutures' and 'Project Blue Falcon' I ordered all the parts to build my first 5inch (parts listed below). After hours of building, I was so happy to see it fly! I've been flying for a little over a month now, I've gone through plenty of props but everything else has held up well.

I've been visiting this forum for a few days now, excellent content and great people, thought it was time to make an account and introduce myself, sorry for the long intro....

A video I stitched together from a day of flying a couple of weeks ago (I didn't shorten it so its quite long, just have a flick through if you're interested)

My quad:

Just got the Fatshark V4's to replace my box googles last week.
Have been flying Tattu 3S batteries, but I just ordered some 4S which should be here next week.

Welcome Snuffypot!  Good to have you here!  That's great flying for being that new to the hobby!

One note on your photo.  It doesn't show for me.  I noticed it's on Google photos though.  Check out this post on how I add photos from my google photos account: http://intofpv.com/t-how-to-upload-pictu...08#pid2208
You might check out the rest of that thread while you are at it - there are other ways to add photos on intoFPV as well.

Hope you enjoy it here!

Welcome Snuffypot,

Or i guess rather than welcome, it's nice to see you talking since you've already been around for a while Smile

Great flying/location/music. I love the picnic cover structure. It makes for a pretty good obstacle to fly around!

Welcome to the forum Snuffypot!

Those 4S batteries will make your quad so much faster and more powerful. Having power on tap is really useful to get you out of a tight spot that would inevitably end up in a crash on 3S.
