Flysky X6B and antennas
#1
Hey all,
I am looking for replacement of my Flysky Ia6b which have, after some crashes, clipped antennas by few centimenters, so my range is a bit compromised now.

I decided on Flysky X6B and I wanted to ask if anybody could advice me on what extra antennas I should get with it. One guy on youtube suggested these ones but the lenght of the original ones is 93mm and these are 150mm. Will that be okay or should i get something else? I have not found any with this exact lenght and that connector.

Thanks for help!  Smile

The overall length of the antenna does not matter. It is the exposed (clear) part that is important. The clear part have to be a specific length that matches your receiver. We can get into the reason why, but this is not the time or place. Actually, I am just too lazy to explain.

Anyway, you can cut the 150mm to 93mm or leave it. But you need to strip the outer shielding to expose the correct inner length as Flysky X6B.

Oh awesome, so if I remove the metal barrel on the ia6b antenna which i have no idea what is for, I could then expose 31,25 mm of wire from shielding and repair it this way?

Metal barrel? I am not sure what you are referring to. Are you talking about the connection to the board? You don't need to remove the antenna for repair. You only need to remove if you are replacing it. But yes, you just need to exposure 31.25mm. Which is similar to most Frsky receiver.

There are thin metal pieces soldered near the end of antenna:

Those barrel makes this antenna the dipole linear antenna. This RX will have significantly reduced range without it. At least I had more frequent failsafes until I put it back again.

- Still you can desolder the barrel and pull the wire back trough it, fix the antenna wire so the exposed end will have MORE than 31.25mm.
- Leave just a little bit of shielding exposed and fill it with solder.
- Clean the copper tube of solder, you will see a tiny hole in the end - push back the prepared wire trough it as far as you can so the little bit of solder-filled shielding will touch the copper -
tubing - great if you would be able to drive a little bit of shielding trough the hole.
- Now solder the protruding shielding to the copper. If you were unable to push it trough the hole, heat up the barrel so the little blob of solder you left on the end of the shielding solders into the tube from the inside.
- Clip the wire so it has 31.25mm.

If you are at it, put a bit of hot glue on the coax in the place that it is soldered into the module to reinforce it. It likes to break at this point and that RX really doesn't like it to be soldered back.

Probably easier to just buy spare ones

Yes, but you still need to solder them onto the module. It is of course doable, but those RXs don't like to be heated up too much - there were some reports of crappy range after even proper soldering. I experienced more failsafes too.

The X6B should have a IPEX connection. No soldering needed. The photo he posted is not from an X6B if I am not mistaken.

Edit: photo is from a FS-IA6B receiver taken from this post

I reread the post. He is asking for extra antennas for X6B.

So soldering is required to repair or replace the antenna he broke on his IA6B.
