In case someone is curious if i6x firmware can be flashed onto normal i6, supposedly the bin file is too large. Some folks at rcgroups said that it is due to new functions added. So I guess there have to be some hardware changes, including a chip with larger eeprom.

I'm actually suprised they didn't just "rebrand" the i6 but made some further changes to it.

Matter of time Konrad, matter of time...

either there will be a software update on i6 as new receivers are comming out - and "how are you going to setup ibus via 'enable ppm'?" so i'd expect either update for i6... or default setting to spam on all pinouts (ppm and ibus/sbus at the same time)..

im more curious on the HW differences, are there any more (like ALL) 3 pos switches instead of 2pos... so far it looks like it has same switches.
hopefully at some point i'll damage my i6 enough and ill buy this one Smile
All the best

You can change all the switches, you already did one right? (unless it was 3-pos to a 3-pos Wink )

Ibus is not only difference in firmware, more alarm options there (available already in i6 mod) etc. But true - it's probably just a matter of time.

I'm tempted to get one of these to replace my Spektrum DX6i, it seems a cheap way of getting extra channels and sbus.

and ibus :p if the quality is comparable to fs i6, you won't be dissappointed. After getting used to a bit toyish feeling at the beginning that is, it is so small Wink

EDIT: I found ArturB photos when he was comparing it with his taranis:

I've used a friend's FS i6 and I liked it, really surprised me how smooth everything felt.

well smooth is matter of amount.... of sand in your gimbals Smile

i've never used praised taranis and maybe at some point i will abandon flysky... but until now my skills are not limited by the radio... so no change yet Smile
i'm flying on i6 for over a year - as konrad said a bit of tweaking and replacing 2pos with 3 pos (sadly one broken)... beside this i would see few features to have (without modding)
- battery voltage on tx + alarms on it (hopefully new rx will support that oob)
- wider V spectrum so you can power it from 4 AA batteries(now) or 2/3s lipo (what i'd like) Smile
- usb for easy programming and not playing wiht pins...
- thinking of an easier way to move through letter selectoin as naming your models is pain in the back...
All the best
