FlySky FS-i6 and EACHINE Wizard X220 (RTF)
#1
I know this question has been asked multiple times in more than a few places around the web. What I don't know is how to fix it because every discussion on the matter has been inconclusive. I'll update this if I find a solution and I'll be sure to share my findings.

Now that that's out of the way, the problem I and many others seem to have is with the radio seemingly not talking to the flight controller.

I have the RTF version of the Wizard X220 (not the X220S) For any who are uncertain, that means this version came with the radio and receiver pre-bound and connected to the flight controller. No problems there.

Out of the box aux channels were set to the knobs/dials which did nothing. ON THE RADIO I have set channel 5 to SWD and channel 6 to SWA because I feel those positions are ideal.
I have the model 1 version which to my knowledge is only different in that the throttle is on the right instead of the left.
PPM is on  and i-bus is as it was out of the box (ch1)

FAILSAFE is set to channel 3 -99% (Seems to be as low as it goes on mine) and channel 5 is on
all other channels are set to off in the failsafe settings.

In type select I am set to Airplane/Glider

As I recall that's it for the radio side of thing. Now over to Betaflight

In Betaflight I have calibrated the accelerometer,
and set
-Gyro Update Frequency = 4KHZ
-PID Loop Frequency = 2KHZ
-Receiver set to Serial based receiver (IBUS) currently but doesn't work on PPM or PWM either
Under 'Other Features' I set
BLACKBOX to OFF and Airmode to on. All other settings in this section defaulted to OFF.
'ESC/Motor Features'
-ONESHOT125
-MOTOR STOP = OFF
-Minimum Throttle = 1045
-Maximum Throttle = 1990
'Board and Sensor Alignment'
-Yaw degree = 270
I haven't messed with PID tuning
And here are some screenshots to simplify the rest
https://i.imgur.com/jSBZi8g.png Sometimes AUX1 will show a bar but it is unaffected by RX inputs
https://i.imgur.com/G7XuJgt.png Same situation here. ANGLE is yellow which as far as I know means that it is activated but no switch on the radio affects it.

That's all I've got right now. If you require anything else to help please let me know. I'll likely be posting this in multiple communities/forums. Thank you in advance. Lets try to get this sorted out once and for all.

Hello Jerry,

CH1 on RX is to be used with PPM and it should be connected to CH1 on the FC.
If you want to try on IBUS instead, connect the RX to the ibus "servo" pins and to CH4 on FC (its a Naze32 rev6, correct?). Set UART2 to SerialRX in ports tab and only after this enable the serial receiver and IBUS in configuration tab.

Other things to check - are you sure that the ia6b is being powered correctly? It has a LED on the top, it should be blinking if not connected to the transmitter or have a stable red light if the transmitter is powered on and bound correctly.

Best,
Konrad

Thanks for the reply Konrad.

I'd like to do this as simply as possible. I've opened up the Wizard and all looks right. The light flashes when the radio is off and goes solid when it's on.
I'll switch it back to PPM in Betaflight but as I mentioned, that's so far not produced any results either. I must be missing something crucial.

Alright I've decided to try that after all but I'm a little foggy on the details. What do you mean on the FC?
I've connected the cable(s) coming from the FC to the horizonal pins directly underneath the word "servo" on the TX. Currently not powered. Is this correct?

yes, this is the ibus connection, the other end of this yellow white cable should be connected to the pinhole marked "4" on the naze board.

FC stands for flight controller (should be a naze32 rev6 in your case).

I assume this is what you mean? https://i.imgur.com/mxQuxZQ.jpg
Cant see any labels. I think you're right about the controller. I don't currently own or have access to a soldering iron either.

I see that this guy's got it on the other side of the board.
Not sure what to do here. I guess I could go back to ground zero. Try and get PPM working

Ah so that is an SPRacingF3 board, not naze32 as I suspected. That is actually good Smile

I hope you will succeed going the PPM route, but in case you can't do it, the ibus pin will be indeed on the other side of the board. The connection should be identical to this one: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/SvGsej_IdRw/maxresdefault.jpg (ignore the yellow lines) and the same as is shown in the video you have found.

I've bound the RX/TX again but so far nothing. I found another video demonstrating how to set it up with PPM which made me aware that I'm not supposed to have serial rx on if im using ppm. But that didn't change anything. I've gone through checklists and numerous copycat videos. Without tearing this thing apart to move it to ibus all I can do is guess that this product is defective. I've tested the motors and they work. Gyro is working properly. Everything seems fine except that the radio just does nothing to the Wizard.

Still nothing. All of these videos and guides tell me how it'ss supposed to work but not what to do if it doesn't.

can you post your current screenshot of the configuration tab and the port tab.  and photo on how your current wiring is?

For PPM, you should wire the RX like this.  Wire to FC is correct.

Note that you also have to use the menu on the radio to enable PPM output on the receiver.
