FLYKIT - the first mobile RC ground control station for FPV
#1
If you are keen on FPV and flying then our product is probably the thing which you are waiting for.
We’d like to present FLYKIT. It is a mobile set of steering devices which can be used to control a drone, RC plane or flight simulator. The kit includes control stick, pedals, thrust lever and pilot seat. With such devices you can control as in an airplane or helicopter, instead of a fingertips control.

This product can move FPV flying on the higher level thanks to more immersive experience than with a standard transmitter. FLYKIT can be connected to the most of transmitters via trainer port or you can use it with an RC transmitter module.
The whole set fits to a special bag and can be taken wherever you plan to fly. Aluminum construction and hall effect sensors will ensure longevity of the FLYKIT. Controller is compatible with latest OpenTx and Ersky9x firmware.
We are currently testing this product, and are about to start production of the first batch, but before that we’d like to know your opinion on our design, especially ergonomics and usability of buttons and potentiometers . The photo presents our current design.

Above the LCD, starting from the left:
  • ID 0/1/2 3-pos toggle switch,
  • TRAINER dual-stable button,
  • GEAR 2-pos toggle switch,
  • 6-pos rotating switch,
  • AIL dual rate 2-pos toggle switch,
  • ELV dual rate 2-pos toggle switch,
  • RUD dual rate 2-pos toggle switch,
Near the trim buttons there will be a joystick - 2 axis with a push-button (e.g. for a gimbal control), and a sliding potentiometer 100mm long placed on the side of thrust-lever enclosure (e.g. air-brakes or flaps). Besides that, we have put a two push-buttons on the thrust lever, and one on the control stick.

Do you think that such arrangement of buttons and potentiometers is good enough ? Maybe you would like to move or replace a button/potentiometer e.g. sliding potentiometer or dual rate switches? We’d be very glad to hear your opinions.

Cool product! we had a guy on here trying to DIY something similar a while back. He probably would have loved this thing.

As for feedback from me,

The first thing that stands out to me is that here is all this expensive looking equipment... and then a very basic fold up chair. I've had my share of those kind of chairs and while it's great that they are portable they all seem to fall apart eventually. So if I was in the market for something like this the first thing I'd want to know is if I could substitute the chair or are the items only secure-able (home made word) in some special sort of ways to that specific chair.

Unfortunately from there I don't have much other advice as I wouldn't be the target market for this product. I am not into immersion when it comes to flying FPV and using my taranis directly is the best option for me personally.

It looks like quite a nice product, realistically for me it would require learning to fly all over again!
I do prefer using a steering wheel and pedals for computer racing games, because it is more accurate and you can feed the power and steering in a more stable manner to alleviate wheelspin and oversteer, but I am not sure that this setup would suit acrobatic flying. With so much throw on all of the controls I can imagine it would be hard to get your limbs to react as quickly as thumbs.
With full size aircraft you obviously have to consider the physical stresses on the craft as well as the physical stress of G forces on the pilot and passengers, so focus is more on smooth, stable flight and the style of the controls suits this application.
When flying an FPV miniquad you need to be able to go from full throttle - zero throttle - full throttle again, often in under a second, I can imagine that being difficult with the throttle lever on this solution. With rates settings often tuned to 1080 degrees of rotation per second, sometimes on all 3 axis, long throws for the controls seems counter intuitive.

Just my 2 cents.
PS. For anyone interested - the thread with Gary Dahms DIY solution is here.

Thank you for your valuable feedback.
We are aware that comfy chair is very important part of fpv equipment. We are working on universal chair mount which would be helpful for anyone who wants to use his/hers own chair. Our first goal was to make a Flykit as mobile as possible. That is why we decided to use folding chair which is light and travel-friendly. There are many good quality folding chairs which are more comfortable and durable than basic ones so perhaps this could be an intermediate solution.
We tried to fly fpv-quad using Flykit, and it is totally new experience, maybe it is not so easy to make sophisticated air acrobatics but instead you get a much more fun. We can tell you a secret that we are working on dual-joystick module which will fit better to fpv-quad.

Hi! Great product. I would like to see a version without the opentx electronics so it could be cheaper. Most hobbyists already have their radios, they can use that
