I can fly pretty well in Acro mode, do flips, rolls, split-S and other manoeuvres, I can fly low and fast, and through racing gates. When I stand up, however, I sway around and totally lose accuracy. Anyone else with this issue, and did you solve it? • Posts: 88 Threads: 39 Likes Received: 5 in 4 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 0 Yes. My solution is to sit down. Just get one of those foldable chairs. But seriously, why do you want to stand? I can do both, but see no reason to stand unless I don't have a chair or something else handy. However, I read how you train and the same will do for flying standing. Just do some packs sitting down to get the flow, then try standing. The trick for me is to "forget my body" • Posts: 62 Threads: 21 Likes Received: 3 in 2 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 3 just practice more! I completely moved over to FPV whilst standing as I think it doesn't look as stupid as sitting in those chairs I have my feet about shoulder witdth apart and look down, no swaying, only sometimes I duck when it's a close one with a gate • Posts: 93 Threads: 25 Likes Received: 6 in 5 posts Likes Given: 3 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 4 its normal for the part of your brain that handles balance to use vision as well as inner ear to keep you upright. lean against something and it shuts balance off in your brain. • Posts: 69 Threads: 28 Likes Received: 1 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 0 Me too. Cant fly standing. I cant feel my legs. lol Maybe stand with your back against something? that's the most comfortable for me standing up • Posts: 918 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 533 in 271 posts Likes Given: 498 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 30 I can fly standing and sitting, sitting is by far the better way..for me!. Standing up I never feel like I am in the FPV zone, I feel somehow disconnected as I am always conscious of standing up, where as sitting down, my body is relaxed and in kind of what I would call "limp" mode.. (ha ha..waits for all the limp jokes. ) which just feels right to me. Oh, and when I say I can fly standing up...only when I lean against something, otherwise I end up starting to lean over and look like a formula 1 GP rider by the end of the flight. • Posts: 2,416 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 1,861 in 1,175 posts Likes Given: 3,315 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 74 The beauty of FPV is that you are flying "in the cockpit" like the pilot of a full-scale aircraft. How many pilots fly standing up?! Sit down in the cockpit, and strap in! • Posts: 626 Threads: 96 Likes Received: 531 in 218 posts Likes Given: 188 Joined: May 2016 Reputation: 20 if I'm on grass I like sitting with my legs crossed and my head tilted down just a little bit, makes me feel like I'm a Jedi. but if not I'll either sit on a curb or something. but if I have no other choice but to stand then I'll lean on something. I started out flying while I was standing but with a monitor, so when I switched to goggles it wasn't to hard for me, as long as I'm not going to fast. but if I'm standing and things get to crazy, I end up feeling like I'm getting seasick and sway all over the place. • Posts: 146 Threads: 10 Likes Received: 37 in 24 posts Likes Given: 15 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 4 If your a pincher, find away to balance your radio off the strap so your fingers feel like they're getting the same range of movement they get when your sitting and let the strap take the weight. I found it more difficult to relax on the sticks then I did to over come the balance of standing because I kept trying to hold the radio instead of controlling it. If that makes any sense Also having something near by you can briefly touch with your elbow or leg can help if you feel like your about to go over • Posts: 236 Threads: 2 Likes Received: 66 in 45 posts Likes Given: 27 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 17 03-Jun-2016, 09:27 AM As a modern human, your spatial awareness and proprioception is sub-optimal and requires training. Just practice it, maybe find a wall to lean against it while flying. There are lots of things we can't do unconsciously due to lack of similar movements and experience in everyday life, for instance most people can't control the pelvic tilt without prior training. Btw, it may be substantial for FPV while standing, because it affects your posture. • Posts: 46 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 2 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: May 2016 Reputation: 2 I'm not kidding, you should try flying lying down flat if you can hold your radio properly. Ita actually crazy • Posts: 146 Threads: 10 Likes Received: 37 in 24 posts Likes Given: 15 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 4 (03-Jun-2016, 01:27 PM)Sacro Wrote: I'm not kidding, you should try flying lying down flat if you can hold your radio properly. Ita actually crazy that actually sound interesting. On your back or on your stomach like a little kid watching t.v.? I'm totally going to try that. My wife has a massage table and I could lay face down with the controller hanging from my neck. I'd bet it would really feel like flying. • Posts: 46 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 2 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: May 2016 Reputation: 2 (03-Jun-2016, 03:08 PM)Trollhammered Wrote: that actually sound interesting.
