Fixing Vtx overheathing (Oscar Style)
#1
Hello,Reading the excellent oscar post on the overheating of the video transmitters I decided to use it on my vtx. But instead of using a copper Raspberry Heatsink i opted for a aluminium one,it is lighter, cooling fins are longer and it is supplied with 3M thermal pad (adhesive double sided) I found it on ebay Uk for a couple of £.
It comes in a 3 piece kit,the bigger one is almost perfect for a 5.8g vtx and it fits perfectly on the lower plate opening in my w.i.p. quad(geprc ge-vx5)
I secured it with zipties,1inch of silicon fuel tubing for nitro rc engines and a layer of foam tape below to avoid vibrations  Thumbs Up [Image: ogdnskxl.jpg]

agreed... also I think you just gave me a zip-tie idea that I never thought of doing before... At first I was like "it has 2 ends" but then I saw what you did... good idea!

although I think most VTX are very heat resilient and completely normal to get hot, it's an excellent safety measure to put a heatsink in Smile good job!
