First ZMR250 Build/ Acrobatic questions
#1
Hello FPV community, I've been playing around with my first build having fun crashing on every flight haha, I've been getting better and better as i go.
I've been flying in angle mode, and i think i should start practicing how to fly the way those people on youtube fly, or atleast in the same mode, and settings so eventually i can fly that well some day.
How do i do acrobatic flying? like flips? etc? what are the techniques? I've read that i have to be in Rate mode, or "no mode" essentially in cleanflight right? I'm not really sure.., and if i do, do i have to set sensitivities differently in cleanflight? And how do i do that? The reason i ask is because i tried flipping in horizon but i literally fast planted... it was spectacular...
I don't even know what to do with the sticks to flip it.
What is a good place to start learning this? If any of you guys have some tips on this  field please let me know, i would greatly appreciate it

I recently burned 2 of my motors because they got caught in grass as i tried spinning them to take off. They didn't spin and burned out.  i know now not to do that so i learned the hard way. If you have guys have other advise or mistakes you've made let me know so i don't do other stupid things haha.

Also, with my FPV, i've measured it to be around 150 meters on a good day in a clear field. I have a 600mw transmitter with clover leaf aomway antennas.
I see people on youtube flying through forests and doing crazy things but i can never do that with just 150 meters. I'm not sure if maybe i set it up wrong, its defective,  or if their is other ways to do FPV better.
Before i had issues and i realized the antennas didn't fit right because of their sockets but i bought new ones and have corrected that. Before i used to get like 50 meters, so i at least improved. Please let me know if maybe i should get a new transmitter that's better or whatever i need to know about FPV that might be important in your opinion. I'm new to this whole hobby and i love it so far and i don't wanna be too limited by my range.

I hope to be able to fly fast and crazy like the people on Youtube one day, it'll be a long road ahead, but i am so far enjoying it like crazy, i nearly fly every day.

I want to thank all of you for your help on my previous questions, and helping me get into this amazing hobby.  I've made a pretty sick build, i'm proud of it specially since i didn't know anything about this 3 months ago. I will list it below with specifications, and pictures! Please let me know what you think! If you have any tips or things i can change to it to make my experience great, go ahead and let me know! I greatly appreciate it!

As far as your range goes, do you have RHCP on the goggles too? I would use RHCP Skew planar on the VRx end (4 lobes and RHCP like the three-lobe cloverleaf on the VTx).

I'm still getting familiar with the terms would you mind dumbing it down or explaining what they are? Sorry xD

If you just want to experience some flips in horizon before you move to rate, get some altitude, like do a nice little punch out to 50ft, the drop the throttle and bang the right stick all the way to the left right up or down, thenbget back on the throttle. Sounds like maybe you were keeping throttle high while trying to flip, which sent you into the ground. Even with stock confg, you should be able to get some quick flips in horizon.

Or activate AirMode and go Acro.

I have a couple of friends that learned straight off on Acro.

What is AirMode? Is it just no modes in cleanflight? I thought acro mode was just no mode selected in cleanflight considering it only shows horizon and angle.  I'm willing to learn right off the bat in acro i just want to know if their is any configuration needed or sensitivvity settings etc..

RHCP: Right Hand Circularly Polarized.  On your quad (attached to your Video Transmitter) it looks like you have a "clover-leaf" - 3 lobes.  If you look at it from the side, each lobe is "tilted" to the right at the top - that's RHCP.  The antenna on the Video Receiver in your goggles must also be RHCP.  However, most people use RHCP "skew planar" for that - 4 lobes each "tilted" to the right.  You can't mix RHCP and LHCP (Left Hand Circularly Polarized - tilted to the left).

So is my antenna not good for FPV? Thats were the issue was all along? the antenna wasn't the correct type? or the "best" essentially?

Oscar posted a flips and roll guide earlier on Big Grin ,  Take a look, explains it all pretty good., http://intofpv.com/t-how-to-do-a-flip-ro...quadcopter.

Also, here is the link that may help you understand what all the different acronyms mean Big Grin , IE: What is RHCP, VTX, etc.

Do you know what mode i'm supposed to do these flips on? Horizon? or no mode? which is acro im assuming right?

If you haven't enabled angle or horizon you will be in acro by default.

If you bought your antennas as a set, you probably got a 3-leaf and a 4-leaf.  Put the 3-leaf on the quad, and the 4-leaf on the goggles. (3-leaf is called cloverleaf.  4-leaf is called skew planar wheel.)

all my antennas seem to have 4 leafs. that's probably were my issue lies correct?

Is their a set of antennas you recommend?

That's not a problem. You mentioned that you had issues with your antenna fitting the vtx. Since your vtx is an rp-sma...I'm not sure how you got an sma antenna on it. Both have the pokey bits. I would triple check that you have the right vtx/antenna combo.
