(-Fanfare sound-) I was in another town meeting up with my family did waiting for the new year to come, and I was thinking "I juat want to go back to my home town and fly", so here is my first flight for 2020, first time also trying to put a "raw" footage of one battery pack. Please bare in mind that regulations here are really ease, therefore I'm not breaking or enforcing people to break any rules. About the drone, damn, I still can't get rid of oscillations at midtrottle I guess. Suggestions are always, always welcome! Yea I am spending all morning trying to tune out oscillations that I can really only see in my gopro is its kind of a pain. • Posts: 265 Threads: 24 Likes Received: 85 in 61 posts Likes Given: 11 Joined: Aug 2019 Reputation: 3 (02-Jan-2020, 05:58 PM)the.ronin Wrote: Nice one man!! It's Colombia, in South America. I crashed my drone yesterday and today's footage seems oscillations "free", or maybe is a placebo Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 Nice!! ... except I might have watched too many episodes of " Locked Up Abroad" for me to brave it LOLLL. I was just coming back to post that I got a lot of my oscillations out by backing off on my PIDs. I did the n00b mistake of tuning my quads with perfect, brand new setups. After some crashes, the oscillations showed up. I was particularly aggressive on my D's to compensate for overly-aggressive P's. They are still higher than default but I backed off substantially. Also ticked up my filtering from 1.2 to 1.3 (with RPM filtering enabled). So far the oscillations are pretty much gone on both my Chameleon and Apex. I still backed off on P just slightly to see if I could get rid of what little remained. For what it's worth, I am using TPU vibration dampeners under each motor. • Posts: 265 Threads: 24 Likes Received: 85 in 61 posts Likes Given: 11 Joined: Aug 2019 Reputation: 3 (02-Jan-2020, 07:42 PM)the.ronin Wrote: Nice!! ... except I might have watched too many episodes of "Locked Up Abroad" for me to brave it LOLLL. Can you link me to those TPU dampeners? What a shame I dobt have a 3D printer but my brother who loves miles away and is not handy. I though that soft-mounting motors was a thing of the past. I was flying at default PID, and still got oscillations, I just xant figure out what to move, or maybe I'm lazy and with few time for test. About Colombia and Locked abroad, LOL, if you come for the white snow, be prepared for get rekt, we have a list of visitors and lot of good experiences here! • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 Even with the default PIDs?? Wow ok what frame are you using? There's a ton of em on Thingiverse but I think I just used these for my 5 inch builds: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2018045 ... You can also just use a few layers of electrical tape and should still absorb some vibrations. I'm not really sure though how much of my oscillations were being caused by my PIDs and how much from mechanical issues like lack of motor vibration dampening (or even FC gyro dampening I guess). Man I'd love to come out there just for the flying scenery lol. We can make a intoFPV field trip out of it ... everyone crashing at CM's house LOL. • Posts: 265 Threads: 24 Likes Received: 85 in 61 posts Likes Given: 11 Joined: Aug 2019 Reputation: 3 03-Jan-2020, 01:47 AM (This post was last modified: 03-Jan-2020, 01:49 AM by CM17X.) My motors are locked with blue loctite but not soft mounted. I'm using the Iflight XL5 V3 frame (currently not available. Oh oh..) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H86FCRQ/ref...dEbMB34PN4. My FC is mounted over these anti vibration fixed screws, but maybe I did something wrong: https://banggood.app.link/0NHJH0IYV2 Attached is a picture of the placement. https://i.postimg.cc/9Qmr6BsJ/IMG-202001...325772.jpg About the trip down to Colombia, that would be sick! Currently I'm living in an area which have a lot of jungle, is really close to the Amazonas, and there are a lot of waterfalls that I'll ride once I get more piloting skills. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 Hmmm I wonder if it's the mounting of the arms? Are they pretty secure? I mention this because in researching remedies for my oscillation problems where I saw a video of a guy replacing his Armattan Rooster screws and swears it fixed his problems. I was tuning oscillations out of both my Chameleon and Apex this morning. Oddly, the solid body Chameleon had more oscillations issues than the Apex with detachable arms. Oh man live it up while you can down there!! I'm sure other countries will be putting out tougher and tougher drone laws. Looking forward to those vids!! • Posts: 376 Threads: 182 Likes Received: 341 in 178 posts Likes Given: 247 Joined: Mar 2018 Reputation: 4 • Posts: 265 Threads: 24 Likes Received: 85 in 61 posts Likes Given: 11 Joined: Aug 2019 Reputation: 3 (03-Jan-2020, 02:02 AM)the.ronin Wrote: Hmmm I wonder if it's the mounting of the arms? Arms are pretty secure, I think one of two screws are broken because of the tightest, but still, rock solid. I gotta try everything and if everything fail, I'll have an excuse for build another quad without a notification of divorce coming to my office Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 (03-Jan-2020, 02:48 AM)CM17X Wrote: I gotta try everything and if everything fail, I'll have an excuse for build another quad without a notification of divorce coming to my office Well played!!! Hmmm come to think of it I think my Chameleon has oscillations that I cannot get rid of. I tried everything man lol. • Posts: 265 Threads: 24 Likes Received: 85 in 61 posts Likes Given: 11 Joined: Aug 2019 Reputation: 3 (03-Jan-2020, 03:01 AM)the.ronin Wrote: Well played!!! I want an Armattan frame ao bad, particularly the Marmotte one, hope those are are tought as they say. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 I am actually quite impressed with the Apex. So far it has been easier to tune for me rather than the Chameleon which was opposite of what I thought. Perhaps look into the Apex or Reverb. • Posts: 265 Threads: 24 Likes Received: 85 in 61 posts Likes Given: 11 Joined: Aug 2019 Reputation: 3 (03-Jan-2020, 05:49 PM)the.ronin Wrote: I am actually quite impressed with the Apex. You know, lately I can't stand Mr. Steele stuff, and I don't feel like buying "fame", but if it's good, it's good, gotta do the research before making any decisions. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 Same here. I actually never gave the Apex much thought since anything that gets pushed on youtube I just assume is an affiliate marketer. And Apex gets pushed a lot. But then I saw it in real life and started looking into it. A lot of non-Rotor Riot types out there swear by the frame. That's when I decided to give it a shot. • |
