first build - looking for comment
#1
Hi,
I have been busy reading through alot of the material for my first build. I wanted to go small. Here are the items I have come up with minus camera  and 5.8Ghz tx\rx.

Realacc QQX-130 130mm Carbon Fiber Frame Kit with PDB
F3 Flight Controller Acro 6 DOF - better choice might be OMNIBUS Betaflight F3 AIO
I was going to get F3 Flight Controller Acro 10 deluxe but was restocking
Racerstar RS20Ax4 20A 4 in 1
4X Racerstar Racing Edition 1306 BR1306 3100KV
FrSky XSR 2.4GHz 16CH ACCST Receiver
3035 3-blade props
800mah 3s battery

So I am looking for suggestions or improvements that could be recommended.

Cheers, Doug

Personally, I would change those motors for something a bit more powerfull and higher KV. But they might be ok if you are a beginner. from my experience with 3 inch quads, it is very important to keep the weight down if you want them to fly good.

The emax 1306 red bottoms aren't very expensive these days (10 USD a piece) and from my experience with 1306 motors I have tried (dys 3300kv, youbi 3600kv, emax 4000kv) the emax 1306 4000kv are the absolute best on 3 inch. They run a little warm on 4S, but for now it haven't caused any problems.

Are you going to put FPV gear on it?

BTW have you seen this frame? it is probably 10 grams lighter than the one you linked:
https://goo.gl/bww9FS (this is not an affiliate link, it is just that the aliexpress links are so damn long!)

This is the frame I'm using right now. probably not the strongest, but it is light (about 30grams):

The EMax red bottom 1306 motors are excellent and I totally agree with oyvinia's comments about them.

Why not get a really good 3" frame from a local Canadian vendor and support both them and the industry in general? I've bought things from AirbladeUAV before and they're a good company.

They have the RotorX Atom V2 frame on sale at the moment: https://www.airbladeuav.com/collections/...m-v2-frame

The Atom is what started the 3" craze and you'll be hard pushed to find a stronger and better frame.

I like the emax motors.

Not crazy about the atom frame with the canopy. I have bought from rotorgeeks other things but they are limited for 130 frames.

I have come across a pretty sturdy frame at 32gms. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Usmile-130mm-Carb...SwIWVY-P4n.

At some point I will add an FPV setup. I am looking at foxeer or runcam.

There are lots of great choices at https://armattanproductions.com/pages/product_grid/27 if you search for frames suitable for 3" props.

The frame you list on eBay only has 2mm thick arms, and for 1306 motors, I'd say they are too thin.

If you're looking at Armattan, I'm building a v1 Sugar Glider 3" and it's quality!

There's now a v2.1 too: https://armattanproductions.com/pages/kit_detail/895

20mm electronics, but full size protected camera...

That's a great looking little frame!

Although I'm in the middle of rebuilding my original Atom V1 with much lighter electronics, I might grab one of these in the future. I'm sticking with the 1105 motors and 3020 props on the Atom rebuild, so maybe one of these with some completely insane 1407 motors would be fun?
