Well all know and love BrotherHobby motors, so I wonder if these might mark the end of the poor offerings we've been dealing with until now? They're listed as "coming soon" on Banggood. Soon we will have every size. Oh the frenzy. So what will be the difference to a 1103 motor of the same weight and kv? • Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 The 0804s are lighter than the Racerstar 1103s (3.5g vs 3.7g) and the KingKong 1103s at 3.9g. They are listed as having N52H magnets and NSK bearings and the air gap between magnets and stator looks very small indeed. With any luck, they'll actually deliver some superb performance. • Posts: 1,504 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 944 in 654 posts Likes Given: 2,142 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 24 Looks like a far better design, seems like a 1 piece 7075 alu bell housing, and with pretty solid looking sidewalls. Both the Sunnysky and racerstar have a bell housing with a sidewall which is almost 'paper' thin, and the top of the housing is separate to the sidewall which means that it can move, causing an imbalance. That was what killed my 1st racerstar 0705... I guess that there is a similar amount of time and effort gone into the R&D of these micro motors as there is with the larger options in the BrotherHobby range but, it would have been nice to see a slightly lower price point than $15, to reflect the minimal amount of material used in the manufacture. The Sunnysky 0705 motors that I bought were useless on 40mm props, but I've just received my BD Bat frame from Armattan which will let me try the 0705 motors with much larger propellers, so it will be interesting to see what these motors can do with larger props. If you look at the testing that KonradS did on these motors, the difference between 40mm and 56mm props is huge! SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! I doubt it, the field from the permanent magnets in conjunction with the electromagnetic fields are what produces the torque, the larger the permanent magnet the stronger its field, and the more copper used in the motor winding the stronger the electromagnetic field. The stator in these tiny motors is so small that it is almost impossible to fit more copper into windings! An increase in motor height usually equates to larger magnets than an increase in motor diameter, but as with so many things in this hobby there are always factors to balance. You question did raise a point for me though... Has there been any confirmation of the shaft size of these motors, they definitely look fatter, as if they could be 1.5mm and not the 1mm we need for true micro props? Good, just get a 1.45 drill bit from BG and you're set https://www.banggood.com/1_45mm-Carbide-...99829.html And a 7mm mounting pattern... they just can't agree on a single standard... But, I totally agree that $15 per motor is too much. Flight of that quad looks really nice but short endurance. Would be nice if they posted some thrust data. Has anyone of you tried the 0806 by gemfan? • |
