FC restart during flip or power loop
#1
Hi,
I changed few parts of my drone. And now my drone falling from the sky during an aggressive flip.

- https://www.diatone.us/collections/motor...xIHuO2scHQ

Aggressive rolls, turns, breaks, and punches, everything is ok. But during the flip, the fly controller restarts very often.

I already tried to do few things:
- flashed the latest Betaflight
- changed props for less agressive
- tried 120c battery
- changed Rampup Power to 13% and Demage Compensation to High in Bheli configurator
- raised Idle motor throttle to 7
- checked battery voltage after crash, and it's 4.1v

Before I did changes in bheli configurator, my FC was restarting each flip.
After I changed it, I flew the whole battery doing an aggressive flips, without restart.
However, on the second battery, it happened again

Here is my DVR: (Crash at 3:06)
And here are photos of soldering: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPy...hLcS15RW9R
Blackbox: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yakplgh...7tKTW/view

I have no idea what to do next, please help;(

Best regards!

Do you have a capacitor soldered to the power leads of the ESC?

No I don't have.
In manual, capacitor is mentioned only for 6s setup. I am flying with 4s.

A capacitor may not be required, but it is highly recommended Smile A good quality 25V 1000uF low ESR cap would be cheap insurance.

If you're only seeing the reboot on flips, I'd start by checking the connection between the ESC and FC. Are all the pins straight and plugs fully seated? Any oxidation or corrosion?

Can you post blackbox logs from the crash?

Here is whole blackbox dump:

And all pins and all connections seem fine. I will double-check tomorrow with day light, but I didn't notice anything suspicious

+1 a huge capacitator in this case

what parts did you change?
increased motortiming could help

does turn off airmode change anything?

capacitator for safety reasons or to fix this problem?

I changed motors and esc and fc to:
- https://www.diatone.us/collections/motor...xIHuO2scHQ

Should I increase motor timing or decrease?

I didn't try to turn off airmod. Should I?

to minimize a spike issue, decrease system noise.. a cap does help a bit, it can make a big difference

increase the motortiming is the direction to solve a motordesync - check the motortemp while try

give if a try without airmode, it will be less noise without airmode enabled.

do you run 4s on 6s kv motors?

I am running 2306.5 2650KV motors with 4s battery

hugnosed_bat do you think that spike issue could restart FC during flight?

as the manufacturer of both parts is diatone, they could probably provide the information of a good matching motortiming value.

it looks like there is a power issue. the cap will flat out.

overall something is as it should be. changed parts sounds like a crash befor;
check for any loosen part, screw, nut. check your motorscrews, they shouldnt touch the windings. check each arm about stiffness, the best way is to force it sideways. if there is one flexibel arm it could be the issue causing vibrations. you could also mesure about any continuity to the frame, some carbon is coated, you need to touch the carbon directly, cutted part therefor.

(i asked about the kv because a 6s kv on 4s could require higher rampup value, but thats not the case)

I found that stack wasn't screwed enough tight to frame.

Also, I found a very similar issue with "simillar" stack:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Multicopter/com...e/fxv857a/

Capacitor and wiring ESC and FC directly, without connector seems that is solved his issue.
After post edit, he confirmed it few months later in comments.

So far I screwed stack better and I added a 35v low ESR capacitor. Today is raining all the time, however tomorrow I am going to test it once again.
I let here know if it solved the problem.

if it won't help I will check continuity and I will try to wire ESC and FC directly.

Best regards and thanks for help already!

Thanks, guys! Problem solved!

It seems that the lack of capacitor was a problem.
I already flew 11 lipos and dron doesn't restart anymore Smile I can feel even difference during flying.

Now, watts are much more stable and lower on OSD than before. They were easily getting over 150 watts during flips or punches.
Now they usually do not get over 100 watts. Only on very hard punches 130 max.

Also, my mamba stack wasn't screwed enough tight to frame, so it could be a reason for some vibrations as you guys mentioned. However, I bet on the capacitor.
In google, I started finding other articles, not related to mamba stack, but a user's had a similar problem as mine, and also capacitor was the fix.

Thanks a lot once again! Smile
