fc help
#1
I just bought a racing drone and wonder how I can find out what flight controller software its using.  Is there a utility I can use to query the board or will I know by the board model?
I bartered some fabrication work for a pile of gear and parts.  Its all new stuff that a guy had built and decided it wasnt for him.

The board doesn't matter, it could be loaded with a number of different types. Most common is Betaflight right now, but I'd just call the guy you bought it from and ask

If it is a race drone, it is likely Baseflight, Cleanflight or Betaflight. But getting proper driver and trial and error trying to connect can be a waste of time. In addition, newer configurator will not work with old firmware. If you can't ask the person you bought from, it might be best to figure out your FC and just flash with the latest firmware. Save yourself the trouble, because you will likely reflash with new firmware anyway.

If it's new, then it's most likely Betaflight. Download the Betaflight configurator and try to connect. If you are successful connecting, the command line in configurator should show exactly what version you are running. You can try the other configurators as well - they are all free.

The only problem is, even if you have the right configurator, you might not have the drivers. Trying to figure out drivers and the configurator might be too big of a task. Worth a try if he has the time.

The guy I got it from knows zero about it. He bought great gear and flew twice. I'll download the configuration and see if it works. I'm new to Fpv but not electronics. I just hope this guy buys some more toys I can get.

So I tracked down who built my new racer and it was nytfury. I'm guessing I don't need to change it up much for now.
