If i see corectle they are competing with products from last year, as now everything new has duversity builded in. Imho miss, but lets see maybe it will find its market. I have to say, on features, HD 1080p 1920 x 1080px resolution, included battery, mushroom and patch antenna. The Eachine Goggles 2 features blow this offer from Fat Shark out of the water. Specially considering you will save over $100 by getting the Eachine... Full review of the Eachine Goggles 2 coming soon... @ Oscar, a step back and failure to compete at this end of the market, still don't know if this is final features but as things stand, the FSV1104 needs a complete rethink if they are going to sell to anyone but die hard Fat Shark fans. • Posts: 2 Threads: 0 Likes Received: 1 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Mar 2017 Reputation: 0 I purchased these a couple months ago and while I have limited experience, here are my thoughts. My original experience is with FatShark Predators. While these function, I did not really enjoy using them. The FOV was just too small to be useful and it was just difficult to concentrate on the actual flight. I used a colleagues Quanum V2s and I decided that I much preferred the 5" screen headmount type (at least compared to the Predators). I had not tested any other goggles at this point. I was looking around....I think I was settling on the Eachine VR D2s. My only concern was how HUGE they seemed. I don't really care what I look like when I fly but the weight hanging off my face for extended periods of time plus the headache of carrying them around was concerning to me. I randomly came across a thread about the Transformers on RCGroups. "Fatshark" himself actually talked about them an explained why he made them. He explained that these are different from the other headsets on the market. The screen is actually mounted on the top and a mirror projects it onto your eyes. This enables more distance between the display and your eyes while keeping the overall depth fairly close to traditional Fatsharks. This got me intrigued. I then saw that you can remove the monitor and use it standalone. I really liked this because my daughter likes to watch when I fly LOS and since she is 6, goggles don't really fit her. I was hemming and hawing for a while and a pair showed up in RCGroup classifieds so I considered it fate..... They came with the binocular headset which I wasn't really interested in but they sounded interesting. Okay....that was a long story. Here's the result. HOLY CRAP. The BINOCULAR viewer is amazing! 55 degrees FOV! It is fantastic to fly from. My colleague (the one with the Quanums) actually bought a pair of HD3s which I had the chance to wear briefly and the lower FOV was noticeable. I won't deny those goggles are great but it made me feel really good about the Transformers. Just looking at FOV and image quality, I think the Transformers come out on top. I am NOT saying the Transformers are better but they are great where it counts. Drawbacks: No DVR, not true diversity, and they're still a little bulky. I just finished modding a ProDVR onto it which I'm excited about but I won't deny that I am jealous of the size of my colleagues.........goggles. All in all, they are not the right goggles for everyone but they should not be compared to traditional goggles. I highly recommend trying a pair if you get a chance. • Posts: 31 Threads: 0 Likes Received: 7 in 6 posts Likes Given: 3 Joined: May 2017 Reputation: 1 How's the video reception on the Transformer? I'm flying using a diversity monitor (RX-LCD 5812) and most of my friends who are using Fatshark goggles with diversity receivers (True D etc) say my reception are still better than theirs. This made me wary on trying out Goggles as I'm used to getting clear video most of the time. Especially since the Transformer is using Antenna Diversity instead of True Diversity. • Posts: 2 Threads: 0 Likes Received: 1 in 1 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Mar 2017 Reputation: 0 (16-May-2017, 08:21 PM)guile Wrote: How's the video reception on the Transformer? I don't really have a great comparison because there are so many factors. For now, I'm not using the best antennas. I have one ImmersionRC CP one that is decent but nothing to write home about. This is some DVR video I made for reference (no judgement on the flying....still learning). There are a couple other under my profile if you are interested. I think everything that is uploaded comes from a micro with a tiny linear antenna....so maybe not the best reference but at least it is something. The move from a monitor to goggles though is so much more about immersion that video quality. Any potential drop in quality is more than made up for by having that huge FOV and getting the feeling that you are sitting in the cockpit. Best of luck with your decision. If you pull the trigger, I'd love to hear/see a direct comparison. |
