I bought the F60 4K camera for my wife to take on her travels, she is working on a cruise ship for the next 7 months :'(
Annoyingly it arrived about 3 hours after she left for the airport!
I watched a review of this camera (by Michelle Taylor) on youtube, and thought that the footage looked pretty good. There wasn't any footage in 4k, and the reviewer said that it didn't look like proper UHD footage, but the 1080p @ 60FPS video that he uploaded actually looked pretty good. The box the reviewer on YT received was full of various clips and accessories to attach to the camera to almost anything, I just got a single 'clothes peg' style clip and the waterproof case. After watching again, it was actually the F60B that he reviewed, the link in the description was broken, and the title of the video only said F60, it was only watching again now that I heard him say F60B.
I brought the F60 to take some video and photo's of a live music event, and put it through it's paces. Initially I was concerned by some different colored horizontal lines flickering across the 2" screen, but I thought that may just be the screen and hoped that this wasn't captured in the actual image and footage, but it was. These lines even appear in the still shots!
Now I have to say, I wasn't expecting the image quality to compare to a $300 camera and because I'm out in the Styx in South Africa, I use mobile internet which is slow and pretty expensive, so I wouldn't be uploading 4K videos to YT anyway. I thought as long as 1080p @60FPS and 720p @120FPS was OK, that would be fine for me...
I know digital zoom is never great, but on this camera it is truly awful, just have a look at this. They say; "A picture tells a thousand words." If you can actually understand any of the words this picture tells you will notice that they are all swear words!
I also wasn't expecting much from the mic, but again the sound it captures has failed to impress, and failed spectacularly. It sounds like the gig was underwater, and these are 2 very talented musicians. Ok he's isn't a brilliant singer, but he is a great guitarist, and she is like the female Slash of the "Oud" which is an ancient Sumerian instrument, a bit like a lute. Sadly the F60 failed to do their talent any justice at all.
I will be contacting GearBest, as I think the camera is faulty. Surely there is no way that this is the intended video quality?
I am hoping that my fellow VIP's take pity on me and pile the 'likes' on this review so I might be able to capture some decent footage with the Split mini, I'm not holding my breath though
