appologies if ive missed a thread on this but has anyone any idea about the best f4 flight controller out there at the moment?

Not sure if they are the best or not, But the OP Nano , Revo and Sparky2 are all F4 boards from memory (someone correct me please if I am wrong).

plus the falcon f4 and the bluejay f4. They are starting to appear all over now and was wondering if anybody knows of anybody who has maybe done a comparison. I need a new fc for a newbuild im starting so was going to try one out.

Is there actually any point in going for F4?

You know what... just been checking them out and the prices are way too high at the moment. I just dont want to be left behind too much thats all..ive also  just been reading an article on an F7 board !!!!! LOL
  Ill wait until  theres some proper testing and results out there before i go there i think. 
 So now a dilemma as to whether to go with the trusty evo f3 which ive had so much fun with or the kiss which i have struggled to get to grips with or to try another f3 type.

Is Raceflight the only firmware which supports F4 at the moment?

Thought so, I think the next step of Betaflight is going to be F4 support from what was talked about in the RC Groups thread.

There is Libre pilot as well but i dont want to get involved in that either.

Beta flight has a cc3d target, not sure if it works for the revo tho, don't dismiss libre pilot as it's very user friendly, is there a real need for f4 fc yet, we're only just seeing the f3 fc getting some legs ? Trying to future proof things in this hobby is a bit like thinking your new PC won't be out of date in a weeks time, just my thoughts

I have a PixRacer on the mail for me. It is super expensive but I want it to serve me as an hybrid platform for Raceflight (being ported) and APM/PX4 stacks.
I can advise to go on the raceflight github and keep an eye on Hooligan F4 to be released in 10 days : incredibly low noise board (check RS2K's YT vid)
