EXUAV Y120S, or Why120S?
#1
Hey guys,

I have seen this a few times looking over the new listings on BG, with the passing thought of where would you put the servo to make this Tri work? I'd never stopped for a closer look at the product page till this morning, when I thought - What is it that is so odd about this?

After looking at this pic more closely, I realized that the spacers are all weird and the top 'Y' arm is really thick...

Ohhh, it is actually 2 separate Y arms, with a different configuration on the 'body/fuselage' side, leading me to put (possibly all the wrong) pieces of the puzzle together - with the thought that whoever built this frame for the photo's has done so incorrectly...

I have come to the conclusion that it isn't actually a proper Tri-copter, but a Y configuration quad... I think that the Y arms are supposed to be top and bottom rather than stacked atop one another. To my mind this is the only way to provide yaw authority, considering the lack of a servo.

What do you think?

I think the model was put together as intended. If you look at one of the top arm. The motor screw hole is counter bevel, so a flat bevel screw can sit flat. That way you can mount the plate stacked on top of each other.

Yeah, Jimbo pointed out the same in the other version of this thread.

Dunno whats going on, I just did a 'quick edit' of the 1st post and it saved it as a new thread! Thought I wouldn't delete this one in case Oscar needed it to diagnose a problem...
