EXUAV Y120S, or Why120S?
#1
Hey guys,

I have seen this frame a few times looking over the new listings on BG, with the passing thought of where would you put the servo to make this Tri work? I'd never stopped for a closer look at the product page till this morning, when I thought - What is it that is so odd about this?

After looking at this pic more closely, I realized that the spacers are all weird and the top 'Y' arm is really thick...

Ohhh, it is actually 2 separate Y arms, with a different configuration on the 'body/fuselage' side. Now maybe I have put (possibly all the wrong) pieces of the puzzle together - with the thought that whoever built this frame for the photo's has done so incorrectly.

I have come to the conclusion that it isn't actually a proper Tri-copter, but a Y configuration quad... I think that the Y arms are supposed to be top and bottom rather than stacked atop one another. To my mind this is the only way to provide yaw authority, considering the lack of a servo.

What do you think?

You have a motor on the top and bottom of the rear which spin in opposite directions I think?

Had a Mini-Tricopter from RCExplorer.se and it scared me, but would love a micro Tri on 2" props for the giggles!

Ah-ha, This is why the motor mountings on only 1 of the arms has countersunk holes!?

Still, looking at the top pic, they could have used longer spacers?

I think that both are countersunk  - the bottom plate is just turned around on the parts pic?

Also it looks like the spacers are for a RunCam Split 30x30 PCB to be integrated at the top and a 20x20 stack for the FC/ESC's...

Right, I thought the closer spaced holes were 30.5 x 30.5mm, the spacers make much more sense now!
