EV800D Recording Interruptions
#1
So I've recently noticed when recording to goggle DVR the playback stops if it see's any interference. What I mean by that is that the DVR still records the full length of the flight but some way through the playback it will just freeze the image and the only trend I can see is when there is interference being received.

Just wondered if this happens to anyone else with these goggles or whether mine has just developed a fault along the way.

Hi, I have been having exactly the same issue with the eachine ev800dm, the recording is there, but when rssi goes to about 50, it freezes. I have tried formatting the sd card and used 4 different playback applications, so its a problem with the file. I am also having a weird issue only on the DVR where 1/4 of the image is taken from the top and but onto the bottom of the video, here is an image of what I mean from the DVR recording. Also, it never used to do this until today. I am using a 32GB class 10/U1 sd card, so the card is plently fast. Any fix for this issue? Thanks.

I have 3 EV800Ds and never have had that problem.

But interference, depending on what it is, can cause weird problems.

Mine does that too. DVR keeps recording and file has audio but no video after the interference.

So I flew today and this time the video never stopped during playback. What I did was reformat the SD card but gave it a name 4 or less characters long. I remember watching something about this for the ev800d on youtube and it worked for me. Does this work for anyone else? Also that weird issue with the 1/4 image on the bottom is now gone.

UPDATE: This is the next day. The problem came back when I was playing back, even with the formatting I explained above. It seems that formatting may not be the issue? Maybe the DVR is overheating because the goggle seem to get pretty hot?

Same here. After decreased signal - video capture stopped, only audio continue. I use ev800dm.

Same here
Everything is ok if i fly close by but if i go longer ranges after the first signal loss longer than 1 second the recording loses image but keeps recording sound.

The DVR in these brands (including most Fatshark goggles except the Scout) is just cheap and does very basic DVR if it works.

Some people get lucky while others suffer.

On my HDO2’s i swapped several sd cards before I got to a point where if I stopped the DVR, format the SD card in the goggles before every flight, that I was sure I would get something recorded because for me i use it as a lost model finder based on recorded footage.

I have exactly the same problem for a very long time.
there is no video after the poster connection, I had options to cheat the DVR signal strength, but it is not safe.

I found one solution that works, start recording before turning on the drone! then the recording will be but the image will be enlarged. (this is better than no recording at all).

How could the signal strenght be cheated?

If I start recording before  turning on the drone I only see the static from the first frame. Is there another solution to that?

Hello,

I got an EV800DM, and I experience the same issues as you describe: video stops after the first signal loss (but audio continues), or the video file won't open at all.
I tried:
  • buying a very high quality micro SD card
  • stop/start the recording after each battery swap
But the problem remains.

However I was able to recover several minutes of footage by using Stellar repair for video. In my experience the files that would not even open can be repaired, but for files that stop after the first VTX transmission issue are not better after running the tool (even shorter sometimes...).

Did anyone have success in using a repair tool on video files produced by the Eachine goggles?
