Esy's First Quad Build

I don't own any frame from Armattan, but hearing many stories from people I fly with, life time warranty is not as good as it sounds

I'm totally down with the warranty! I just keep a few parts on hand, so when it does break, I warranty it, but I'm just replacing my backup part. Gets me back in the air faster.

I just recently got a replacement frame. Claim process was easy. Yes it cost $5 for shipping. I usually end up buying other stuff while I am at it. I did have to wait about 1.5 wks. But if you buy a Martian it is about 1 month for shipping unless you pay for express. I guess you can have a extra frame one hand, then you don't have to wait.

A better frame does not necessarily makes the quad feels better. Usually a better frame, the fit and finish is better. Well thought out design and supporting the original design. Better customer support. Better quality carbon.

Agreed! You tend to find better weave carbon on the more expensive ones. However I have flown my Wizard with epoxied back on arms and it flew great. I tend to think the feel comes from the tuning, and your time with it. The more time you spend learning while flying it, then tuning the inputs to match what you want/expect, the better it will feel to you. It takes time though. After half a year, I just now am comfortable enough to raise my super rates high enough. Just stick with it and make sure you learn from your follies!

So in fact, better frame = better mechanic properties.

I would say, to an extent yes. But that is my terrible unprofessional, eyeball exam. My Armattan has taken a fair bit of abuse with no breaks yet. My wizard would snap a bottom piece on a rather light fall. But I have no other means to judge.

27/12 can arrive my parts!

And I have one question. I ordered 16:9 cam but as Im watching so many videos, mostly peoples fly with 4:3.
From one video, someone pointed out 16:9 is just 4:3 croped top and bottom? So If I use 1.8 lens, I can get those bottom and top back and get more sideview? Or Im missing something?

I don't think so but, please someone correct me if I am wrong..?

I think the sensor inside the camera is 4:3, software then crops the top and bottom, changing the ratio of the visible image to 16:9. So you are limited by the hardware of the camera sensor rather than the FOV of the lens.

Basically you 'could' get more top and bottom, but the picture would have to be stretched wider and thus distorted, to maintain the 16:9 image, in the same way as setting your TV to widescreen, when it is displaying an old 4:3 video.

Thats the theory and you are right.. But look on this video..

It shows what Im talkig about.. An this is confuse me. Look at 1:50
https://youtu.be/QEe-_BK4Bow?t=1m50s

You can se the trees at side on 4:3 and same trees at same side at 16:9. As he told, you are loosing top and bottom, instead of getting wider view.
So thats the question if this same principe works for latest eagle 2 camera. Because if this is same for v2, this is shame..
And thats my point, If Im gonna use 1.8 lens instead of default 2.1, it gives me more wider image at all, And I get part of losed top,bot back. But still not the whole size of 4:3. Damn this is confusing more than i thought!

EDIT: Just read all comments in linked video. And Im right Big Grin There is no 16:9 sensors, so its cropped 4:3 and 1.8 should gives you bit of view back!

Increasing your field of view will give you 'more' of your surrounding area on screen, but it is like zooming out with a camera, so everything will be smaller to fit into the image. So, yes you can get more top and bottom as well as wider view, however the image that is captured by the sensor is still the same 'size', only the details within the picture are smaller. The 4:3 image will still be cropped by the same ratio to produce the 16:9.
