Im watching FPV drones long time, now I finally decide to build one. In future Freestyle will be the main focus of mine .. because I have 3D printer, I really wanna go this way of 3d printed frame, I chose this one Peon230 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:629338 I have Taranis Q X7 and Aomway Commander V1 And the batteries.. Can you recommend me some 3S for start? I don't think 4S would be best, but feel free to leave your comment. About hardware I discuss this with my friend who pilot drones for some time. We came with this setup. 4X Racerstar Racing Edition 2205 BR2205 2300KV 2-4S Brushless Motor For QAV250 ZMR250 RC Drone FPV Racing https://www.banggood.com/4X-Racerstar-22...rehouse=CN 4X Racerstar RS30A 30A Blheli_S OPTO 2-4S ESC Support Oneshot42 Multishot for RC FPV Racing Drone https://www.banggood.com/4X-Racerstar-RS...rehouse=CN 10 Pairs GEPRC 5040 V2 5 Inch 3 Blade Propeller Transparent Color For RC Multirotor FPV Racing Drone https://www.banggood.com/10-Pairs-GEPRC-...rehouse=CN Omnibus F4 Pro V3 Betaflight Flight Controller Built-in OSD Barometer SD Blackbox for RC Drone https://www.banggood.com/Omnibus-F4-Pro-...rehouse=CN 2-6S Power Distribution Board Built-in Dual 5V/12V BEC for RC Drone FPV Racing 9.4g https://www.banggood.com/2-6S-Power-Dist...rehouse=CN FrSky R-XSR Ultra SBUS/CPPM D16 16CH Mini Redundancy Receiver 1.5g for RC Multirotor FPV Racing Drone https://www.banggood.com/Frsky-XM-Micro-...rehouse=CN Foxeer Monster V2 2.5mm 1200TVL 1/3 CMOS 16:9 PAL/NTSC IR Block FPV Camera w/ OSD and Audio https://www.banggood.com/Foxeer-Monster-...rehouse=CN Eachine TS5823L 5.8G 200mw 40CH Raceband Mini FPV Transmitter Skyzone Boscam Upgraded https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-TS5823L...rehouse=CN Foxeer 5.8G 3dBi TX/RX RHCP Omni FPV Antenna RP-SMA/SMA https://www.banggood.com/Foxeer-5_8G-3dB...rehouse=CN FOXEER Box 4K CMOS FOV 155 Degree Micro Bluetooth WiFi Camera Mini FPV Sport Action Cam For RC Drone https://www.banggood.com/FOXEER-Box-4K-C...MgS61ZrcfE Thanks for reading and please write your suggestions Esy • Posts: 5,315 Threads: 672 Likes Received: 3,155 in 1,743 posts Likes Given: 2,030 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 To be honest, I think you should start with a carbon fibre frame as your first build. 3D printed frames are a bit uncertain, they tend to break easily and aren't very stiff which will affect flight performance. It's a nice experiment, but maybe do it when you have a bit more experience with flying a drone? Just to avoid troubles and headaches I recommend the Martian Frame. For FC/PDB, you can get a AIO FC for much cheaper, I am using the Omnibus F4 AIO SD, it's pretty good. For RX, I recommend getting the XSR, it's half the price as the R-XSR, but same capability. If size isn't an issue, then XSR is totally fine. The Monster camera is pretty bad if you ask me. I would rather get the HS1177 or the Swift 2. Predator and Eagle 2 are also excellent choices if you have the budget. The rest looks fine to me. Take a look at my "budget build for beginners" tutorial: https://oscarliang.com/build-racing-dron...uadcopter/ Posts: 228 Threads: 44 Likes Received: 147 in 81 posts Likes Given: 50 Joined: Dec 2017 Reputation: 2 I love to create things So thats the way I wanna start with 3d printed frame, but if its really better to go with carbon fiber, I can go with it. Will look at your recomedation parts. And Also read the tutorial. As I said, I dont have much experience with building drones. And The number of variations are HUGE For additional Info, Budget is not the problem. Unless you have logged mad hours on a Sim, crashing is a given. And the durability of 3D printed parts on impact is pretty crap. Especially ABS. Plus, the added heft of carbon makes it a tad more stable mid-air. Also, if you are on the YouTube much, check out UAVFutures channel. He just did recently(a few days as go) a very complete build, step by step. Well worth checking out. I was planned print this from CFjet its 20% carbon + 80% petg. But I search alot about printing frames after oscar pointed, this could be not the best way to build 1st drone. And I think Ill go for carbon frame. And second drone will be th eprinted one! Oke, just check flight of the build from UAVFutures you pointed out. This machine is mad! I think Ill inpire from this Because this build is so fast :O • Posts: 331 Threads: 47 Likes Received: 114 in 84 posts Likes Given: 76 Joined: Oct 2017 Reputation: 1 (12-Dec-2017, 05:13 AM)Esy Wrote: I was planned print this from CFjet its 20% carbon + 80% petg. Depending on who you buy from, make sure you get decent batteries. I would start with something along the lines of 3S 45c to begin with. They are cheap for when you crash one or accidentally chop the leads, and do not drop enough current to get you into too much trouble. I have experience with Tattu(Amazon, decent), ZOP(banggood, terrible) and Indestructible Quads(they have their own website, best batteries yet). Tattus and the IDQ batteries were good, but the ZOP batteries did not push any voltage. Would quickly alarm "land now" on punches because it could not keep up. But your call there. Luckily there are quite a few good battery makers there already Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 I concur and back up what Oscar says about going straight to 4s... I made the mistake of reading old materials about how 3s batteries were somehow better for a new pilot and started with them and I regretted it the moment I had bought my first 4s battery. Very quickly I learned that 4s gave me the power I needed to recover from mistakes and avoid pounding into the ground due to gravity having too much power over me. I do concur with s3npai's comment about Indestructible Quad's batteries. I have 3 black labels myself and they've held up to SERIOUS abuse. I've managed to kill at least 1 of every other kind of battery I've owned (including a Tattu R-Line) but the black labels haven't shown any sign of fatigue or puffing yet. I am grateful that Tom recommended them to me and they'll almost certainly become my exclusive battery when I need to buy more in the future. Oh and another plus side... they're very affordable! Something I notice but I don't think anyone has mentioned is that you are going with the Foxeer box camera. I believe this should fit in go-pro mounts? Depending on which frame you go with you may want to print yourself any one of the various mounts that are out there. For me, I don't do 3d printing so I end up just buying the ones that Lumenier sells but I think you'd probably prefer DIY on that so I figured I'd mention it. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 1,504 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 944 in 654 posts Likes Given: 2,142 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 24 Hi Esy, Welcome to the forum, looking forward to seeing your build come together... Glad to hear Carl and s3npai singing the praises of Indestructible Quads, I stumbled across a thread on RC groups with loads of people praising the quality and affordability of the Black Label batteries, and they seem to provide truly amazing customer service as well. As far as I know, Indestructible is still a 1 man band, and the owner quit his day job to focus on providing great products and service to the hobby, so I try to recommend them as often as possible! I'm not sure if you have read much info on the Racerstar motors, but it seems that some people are saying that quality control is not very good, and that 1 in every 5 motors can have problems. The price is very hard to beat though... The RCX motors from myRCmart.com are slightly more expensive, but they are balanced at the factory which leads me to believe that QC is probably a bit tighter. Damn... you are getting the top end build I think for motors, 2400KV is a better choice.. I personally think 2600KV is for hardcore racers, that's going to be really hard on your battery.. no need for that kind of power when you are starting out. Oh you will also need some Nylon standoff / nuts for the Matek VTX, you are supposed to mount it on top of the FC, and it doesn't come with any standoffs: This is a great assortment, spare will be useful for future builds and repair! https://www.banggood.com/300pcs-Nylon-He...95650.html Oh, don't forget the Low ESR capacitor, it will help clean up your video and gyro, you only need one, save the rest for your future quads http://amzn.to/2jFXrTE And buzzer and XT60 pigtail: http://bit.ly/2uw8Cp4 https://www.banggood.com/AMASS-XT60-Plug...rehouse=CN (13-Dec-2017, 01:30 AM)Esy Wrote: And another question, what is good batrery fo googles? what Goggles do you have? My tiny7 can suffer a bit from prop wash oscillation, just remember to keep moving, a slight drop in altitude while hovering can result in falling into prop wash, which can be hard to recover from. It doesn't quite have the power to easily recover from flips and tricks though, but its a great little quad for blasting round the house and (on still days) the garden.
