Hey there, just wanted to do a quick review of the Estes Proto X I recieved yesterday.
As you may know, this micro quad is one of the smallest, if not the smallest on the market. It certainly flies much differently than a mid size quad; the movements are very zippy even on the lowest speed setting(never mind the insanely fast 100% setting...) but once you get the hang of it, it's very fun to fly. The weather has limited my flight time outdoors with my larger quad, so it's been nice to still be able to fly this guy around. I had a minor issue with my front left motor mount being a little loose and causing the quad to yaw left slightly, but that was very easily solved by a dot of super glue.
Here's a few pros and cons I've amounted so far:
Pros:
- Pretty good flight time(~10-15 minutes)
- Low charge time(~25-30 minutes)
- Comes with extra props
- Small size makes it fun to fly
Cons:
- Propellers are rather flimsy(buy extras- they're cheap)
- 100% rate is too zippy and hard to control
- Loose motor mount (again, very easy fix)
- Small transmitter
All in all, if you're thinking about getting this quad, I say go for it. Be weary if you're a total beginner, this may be better suited for someone who at least has flown one before as it is more difficult to fly than a mid size quad or even just slightly larger nano quads.
Good luck and fly high!
