esc-configurator.com

Those of you that have used esc-configurator.com, were you successful and happy with the end result?  Or do you find that BLHeli is a better choice?

I may be sticking my toe back into quad building and looking at options available that weren't there when I took a break from the hobby.

I started using esc comfig when it offered Bluejay … bi-directional d shot, played a part and I had purchased jesc license for my esc to be able to use bi-dir-d..
I have used it, positive results, and will continue using it for BLHELI s ESCs … if / when I get a Blheli32 esc I’ll use BLHELI suite..
This was another “hurdle” I had to discover the other n my own.. I had no idea there was DIFFERERNT BLHELI and u had to use different programs for each

I use it a lot, wonderful that it is browser based as well. I believe it has a very large user base in the fpv community for flashing bluejay and I have not heard of any issues with it. It is also actively maintained and the devs are very helpful/responsive. Its been many years since I've use Blhelis configurator.

I use all of them. I use the website version and I still use BLHeli for two pain in the ass quads that won't work with Bluejay. They both do the job. But I find the web version you have to unplug USB to get it to reconnect after disconnecting and sometimes close the browser and redo it. It's like the web implementation opens the socket for the USB then doesn't release it when you disconnect. But it's not critical or anything. Smile

Are you running Cura? Cura steals serial connections and messes up ELRS/BF/ESC (any of the configurators that connect over serial) and just closing all instances of Cura usually does the trick for my laptop.

Devuan Linux (Debian Linux without the crap). I'm not a Windows user. I assume Cura is for Windows. At least i've never heard of it on Linux.

TBH, I think some of it is Chrome and some of it is whatever back end they use. It only happens on esc configurator and none of the others. It also doesn't happen when using the builtin esc configurator on Quicksilver.

I've been using it on any/all quads that don't have Blheli 32.  No problems...modern ESC protocol goodness for our Blheli S type hardware.

Bluejay allows you to use RPM filtering & Dynamic Idle, both of which require the bidirectional ESC communication.  These new-ish features are the main reasons to use it.   JazzMaverick and JESC were the alternatives, but it sems most folks are using Bluejay now...its easy to update, free, and it works.

You can select specific PWM implementations for bluejay after you select the base firmware version. Bluejay is a lot better than blheli_s in terms of power passed onto the motors and general efficiency (especially small whoops).

Given you're a big rig type of fella you may want to look into AM32 as well. It has greater performance than bluejay as it is 32bit but opensource and cheaper once you buy a retail esc with it compared to blheli_32. In fact I reckon AM32's performance was a driver for the dev of bl_heli32 to release an update (32.10) that significantly improves torque in the middle power range band.

I have been using the web ESC configurator for a long time and quite often. During the entire time, it happened twice that one of the 4 ESCs in the 4in1 ESC failed to be updated. Which means bricked ESCs specifically 2 pieces. If this happens, you're screwed. And nothing else will help, than the classic old BLheli-s configurator and a small arduino, otherwise there is no chance to put the bricked ESC back into operation. So that's my experience with the web version of ESC-configurator.
