EMAX RS2205 motor shaft broken
#1
Anyone else found the Emax RS2205 motor shafts are fragile and easy to snap, and the thread are easy to strip?

2 of my threads are knackered, one of them I cannot even remove the nut (and prop), and the others are getting bad too. The aluminium just seems too soft.

Considering the issue with C-Clips too, not impressed. Lasted far less time than my RCX.....

Never had a problem with my good old cobra motors like this (my last set lasted a full year)...

I believe Cobra uses 7075 aluminum. RotorGeeks just updated their 2205 motors to use the same. They feel fantastic. Still the hollow steel shaft on the DYS SE and F40v2 is better IMO. Emax will be updating the RS soon based on customer feedback though, so I suspect to see some dramatic improvements.

sounds good.

I've been super happy with these red bottoms up until now, this is super annoying. I don't even tighten the props tight, and never had an issue with other brands.

I see there are also some other new motors coming down the pipe from some other players that are looking good as well. Even DYS really nailed it with the design SE series motor.

the SE2205 motors look good on the bench, but sometimes problems don't show up till later though, they really suck at cooling, and no proven reliability. Again, I suspect we'll be seeing revisions of all these motors with N52SH or N52UH soon that will solve the issue. Those magnets are so new they've not been available in volume till very recently.

I know EMAX used a different kind of aluminium that had a higher thermal dissipation rate to help with the cooling of the N52 magnets. Guess it doesn't do well on the threads over time though.
