EMAX RS2205 Motor Running hot!
#1
Hey guys, I got a set of EMAX RS2205 2600KV.

I only ordered CCW, thinking that they can run in either direction like most of my other motors.

Well the two running CW are getting crazy hot very quickly, under a minute of hovering. Any ideas?

I am running LittleBees 20A, BLHeli 14.4, tried BetaFlight and CleanFlight.

Another incidence of motor screws touching windings?
If that's not the case, try switching them around and see if the other 2 get hot. The ccw/CW just means the thread on the prop shaft, should still work the same and interchangeable.

That was it, motor screws too long! one of the mounting screws I used was the longer 4mm type, my frame is 3mm. Stupid oversight on my part might have damaged the motor. It still spins and does not seem to warm up anymore but I doubt I got that lucky.

motors spin cold now, no noticeable problems tho time will tell. Even the shorter bolts make me nervous, my frame plate must be thin. I replaced all of them with shorter ones.

Thank you Oscar

i have the same problem and made sure that the screws are short but after some 5 minutes of 4S batteries, all the motors appears to be very warm. is this normal?

for additional info, I am using the new LittleBee Pro 20A which I believe should be sufficient for the emax RS2205?

If your using the shorter of the screws supplied be warned and really check that they aren't too long as well. On my QAV210 3mm bottom plate their .5mm to long. Which is just enough to touch. You gotta hold that shit up to the light and squint to tell. Even measuring with calipers can be tricky. In my opinion don't use them unless your 100% sure.
